What are these strange entries, which look like this growing list:

When I try to access Google Translate the screen returned shows a listing of 74 online SearXNG instances.

What is going on? Why is Firefox pointing to SearXNG sites rather than Google? Grateful for advice of a fix. [I have eset Internet Security installed.] Unable to attach a screen shot at the moment - nothing will save just now as I have an eset scan running.

When I try to sign in with username and password, Firefox is demanding that I "restore facial recognition" or fingerprint. But I am using a desktop PC. With neither a camera nor touchpad. Before asking for the above, I was instructed to insert some kind of key into my computer. I 'm stumped. Is there something I can turn off? Or on? to avoid these steps I can't take? Thanks y'all.

Firefox lets me build elaborate hierarchies of bookmarks, just as a modern file system lets me build elaborate hierarchies of files. Once a bookmark exists, though, I can't find a way to tell what folder it's in. In contrast, once a file exists, it's easy to tell what folder it's in. In Windows, for example, I open a File Explorer window and search for the file by name, then right-click>Open file location to open the folder that contains the file. File Explorer's address bar shows the whole path to the folder.

If I find a bookmark through the Bookmarks>Manage Bookmarks window's search box, the window gives no clue to where the bookmark is. If I display its properties with Bookmarks>Edit Bookmark, it shows what folder the bookmark is in, but it gives no clue to where that folder is. If the folder's name is unique, an I created it, I can probably figure out where it is. But if the name is something generic like Pending, it's hopeless. I could have 193 Pending folders in different places.

Is there any way to find a Firefox bookmark's location?

I have been watching YouTube for years, issue free. This week I was blocked, as my computer may be blocking ads and thus violating You Tubes policy. How can I find and disable ad block programs/ extensions, thus allowing me to get back on You tube. I can recognize an outright program, but do not knew if extensions are in play that are not obvious to me. THANKS

I have set my account to "Don't delete any messages", because I frequently want to reread a deleted message in my Trash folder. However, when I go into my Trash folder to search for a deleted message, I am finding that messages older than a certain date have disappeared, although I've done nothing to permanently delete them. For example, today everything older than May 3 is gone. What can I do to prevent this?

thanks, CW

Firefox 139.0.4. version is also not good! Uploading videos to Youtube does not work with it! It does not move from zero percent! As I wrote earlier, the problem started with version 138.0.4. and is still ongoing! Uploading videos works with other browsers! I am waiting for the problem to be solved! If I wrote my letter in the wrong place, please forward it to the authorities! At the moment I could write a letter here, I can't really find a topic where this would be discussed! My OS Win10 64 bit. Thank you!

Quite often when I enter a url Firefox will start showing connections of the status bar. It appears to be forwarding the url to other sites before showing what I expect.

I don't understand why this happens. Using the Windows 11 browser goes right to url with no waiting.

I am repeatedly (a couple of times a week for the last several weeks) losing bookmarks. It is possible for me to regain them when I follow the instructions given by Firefox, but I am frustrated with having to do it repeatedly. I am including below the instructions I am following so that someone out there might be able to identify the root of the problem. Help More troubleshooting options Profile Folder - Open folder Exit Firefox Rename or delete favicons.sqlite and places.sqlite Delete favicons.sqlite-shm, favicons.sqlite-wal, places.sqlite-shm, places.sqlite-wal Reopen Firefox

I updated to Windows 11 Pro, version 24H2 on May 2, 2025.

My suspicion is that a "helpful" friend made some sort of error. Earlier this spring, he deleted Microsoft Defender Malware Bytes (I think) because it was interfering with bookmarks. Maybe it has something to do with running Windows 11. If all that sounds confusing, it's because of my lack of technical expertise. I will be grateful to anyone who can help me.
