In a few previous updates, FF keeps messing around with the New Tab layout, ruining its previous good look. I learned to revert it back to its former setting by disabling browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-a and also browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-b in about:config.

Now in Firefox 141, browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-a has completely disappeared, no more allowing the poor user to get the look he wants.

Why? Am I missing something? What is the use of making the product worse or less user friendly?

I have HDR working in Proton games and mpv fine (using Plasma 6.4 / Wayland)

I enabled HDR in Firefox (gfx.wayland.hdr), and HDR content works in YouTube fine ( looks amazing!) however.. I have an issue in that all non HDR content doesn’t show any video (I have sound) just a green sceen (see screen shot) including all ads.

Any idea how to work round this ?

Hey, I have a dual monitor setup, whenever I mouse over the sidebar to move to my other monitor the sidebar gets stuck on the expanded state which covers content on the currently open webpage

Is there a way to make the sidebar close when my mouse leaves the monitor?

I have hover to expend enabled, so I would expect it the sidebar to close when my mouse leaves the monitor (as well as the firefox window)

I received a new computer, I installed Firefox on it and tried to install gmail in the Firefox. There was a bunch of things it wanted me to do and when I had completed them all I get is a screen that says it is Gmail and has a primary tab a social tab and a promotional tab on it bu no mail. what I have I not done. I would like the gmail the same way I have it in edge and google.

I'm having Firefox browser problems. I checked on my computer for system updates and I am current. Pages are not loading, I'm just getting the blue dot swaying back and forth from right to left and left to right. I tried to clear out my chache and wonder if I did something wrong when I did that.

Dear Firefox China Team, After reinstalling Windows on 2025-07-22 and installing I signed in with the same Firefox Account (this one). Unfortunately: • No bookmarks, passwords, history or extensions were restored. • I believe “Sync” was enabled before the reinstall with all data types selected. • The UI only shows “Syncing…” but no data appears. Please help:

   Check whether any sync data exists for this UID.
   • If yes, explain why it is not downloading and provide recovery steps.
   • If no, supply official evidence (e.g., server-side log) showing zero data.
   If my data (bookmarks, logins.json/key4.db, form history, add-ons) is on your servers, kindly export it to me in an encrypted archive or provide a temporary secure download link.
   Advise how to prevent this “appears-to-be-synced but actually not” scenario in the future (mandatory manual backup, verification methods, etc.).

Troubleshooting already done: – Confirmed same account, same email. – Reset services.sync.* prefs to default. – Manually triggered sync; about:sync-log shows no error codes. – Created a fresh profile; still empty. Please reply at your earliest convenience so I can continue using Firefox with confidence. I am ready to provide Sync ID or any logs you need. Best regards,

Hi Firefox Community, I recently had to reinstall Firefox on my Windows 11 PC due to some system issues. Before uninstalling, I had Firefox Sync enabled and connected to my Firefox account. I expected all my bookmarks, history, passwords, and extensions to be restored automatically after signing back in—but it didn’t fully sync everything.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

Signed back in with the same Firefox account

Confirmed that Sync is turned on in the settings

Waited for a while to give it time to sync

Some data (like bookmarks) came back, but passwords and open tabs didn’t sync as expected. Is there a way to manually trigger a full sync or recover the missing data from my Firefox Sync account?

Also, are there any logs or tools I can use to verify what was or wasn’t backed up in Sync before the reinstall?

I’d really appreciate any help or guidance.

Search Engine Realm

When the option to sync is present, why doesn't it actually sync all regular settings across multiple devices. Why do I still need to perform extra work, on par with a lobotomy, to get everything exactly as it needs to be? And why is the toolbar customization not in Settings?

You do realize that most people search for SETTINGS when they want to change any aspect of a thing. But you have right-click context menus that nobody knows exist.

At this point, maybe Edge is the better browser. Firefox makes a lot of assumptions of its users. I shouldn't have to meticulously keep track of every single piece of information AFTER a sync to make sure it's all there. It should just exist.

This includes toolbar customization, Home tabs/button setup (I have 3 regular tabs I use, and those did not translate over), Theme (regardless of the system wide theme, because it's already set on the core machine).

I don't enjoy having to google how to use your browser.

I have done all the steps that more troubleshooting information requests. I have restarted my computer Running MacBook Pro M2 OS 15.5

This is driving me crazy. Been going on for a couple weeks now.

I have always used Firefox but suddenly it won't connect to my Chase account. I log in and then it just spins. I have no issues logging in on my Apple products or use Internet Explorer. I'm unable to get on using my windows desktop from which I print all transactions. HELP!!

I don't know what's changed, but now whenever I press Ctrl + Left or Ctrl + Right, the next tap opens. How to disable these keyboard shortcuts? This happens while text editing and it's a problem.
