Couple months back had to restore computer. Wouldn't let me add my POP gmail account, said had to use IMAP. POP was no longer accepted or something to that effect. So I got IMAP set up. (Of course, I did save my old POP folder with some messages in it.) Ever since setting up the IMAP folder I only get maybe 30 messages each morning. Never more. Which is no way right. I've googled and tweeked the synchronization/storage settings and the server settings. Nothing works. I'll spend hours googling suggestions and trying them, then get frustrated and move on. Then a week or so later I go thru it all again. Nothing changes!! Still only get the very few emails each morning. About 30 or so minutes after the initial download of messages, I'll get a pop up saying imap connection lost. This is SO frustrating. I have no idea what to try next. I never had this kind of issue with any of my POP accounts. Any suggestions? I've probably already tried them but will certainly give it another try. Thanks! Lynn

I have two email accounts (one is imap, one is pop3) in my older version of Thunderbird. They have both worked normally until last week. The pop3 account continues functioning normally, but now when I select (in Thunderbird) the imap account, the mouse cursor starts showing the hourglass and the bottom status bar reads "loading message" . I've closed and restarted Thunderbird, but this doesn't make any difference. The imap account is stuck on "loading message" and doesn't download anything. I also checked my imap email account on the ISP's website, there is new email there waiting to be downloaded,. What can I do to troubleshoot this?

ps...a few weeks before this problem surfaced, I had all my email (inThunderbird) disappear, so I renamed the prefs.js file and that fixed the problem. My email worked normally after that, until this current problem occured.

I am running Thunderbird 140.11.1esr on Windows 11. I have many email accounts mainly with btinternet which I access with Thunderbird. Most of them work fine but when I tried add another email account with a very large inbox all of the folders download fine but the inbox itself doesn't show any messages but the number alongside the folder says 220479 (which I think is unread messages). I have tried this on 2 different laptops with the same result. I have tried to Repair the folder. The folder is selected for offline use and I have tried to press the Download now button.

Any ideas?

When I use thunderbird to download messages from my sky email, I get a threat notice and " The file containing the threat was at c:\users\appdata\local\temp\newmsg" - I use mcafee. I do not get this threat notice when getting messages from my bt emails or my zen emails via thunderbird. I do not get this threat message when logging in directly to sky emails on the internet. I have deleted my sky email account in thunderbird and reinstalled the account but I still get the threat notice. Can you help .

How do I add my Comcast email account to Thunderbird now that it has switched to Yahoo? When I try to add it all I get are the Comcast mail servers in the setup program to add an email. When I try to edit it and change it to the Yahoo mail servers it does not work. I have used Thunderbird for many years and Firefox for a browser. When I started on the internet I Used Netscape. Firefox and Thunderbird were started by Netscape programmers if I remember right. I love both Thunderbird and Firefox and don't want to change but the way it is now I cannot use Thunderbird for email. I have tried both Pop3 and Imap setups. Neither will either allow me to set up my email in Thunderbird to get email from Yahoo. I do not like the Yahoo Website for email.

I can not get my google workspace account to authorize in Thunderbird. Using IMAP setting. Thunderbird automatically finds the correct server settings, but when I hit "continue", it gives an authentication error.

I have spent extensive time with the google workspace admin console help. This is the final result: "Thank you for trying all the steps so far. Since Thunderbird has already been added under App Access Control in the Admin console, IMAP is enabled, and cookies/cache have been cleared, but the authentication error still persists, this points to a possible issue with the application’s client ID used by Thunderbird for OAuth. In this case, you will need to contact the Thunderbird support team to verify the correct client ID for their OAuth implementation. Once you have the correct client ID, we can then configure it properly in the Google Admin console so the authentication works successfully. We’ve confirmed that all Google Workspace settings on our side are correct, so the next step must be coordinated with Thunderbird’s team."

Therefore, here I am.

Two identical spam emails came in, and I deleted both from my Inbox. Both had attachments. Deleting them moved them to the Trash folder. When I went to the Trash folder, I found both emails had been combined into one file. Is that "threading"? I don't want any emails to be combined together EVER. Previously I had checked the "Unthreaded" box in Settings; so if this was threading, why did it happen?

Another question: I couldn't find anything to do with this combined file but to delete it. Did the act of deleting it also delete the attachments, which probably contained viruses?

This "threading" business has been going on for years now. I always check the options that supposedly disable it, but then it keeps happening.

Desktop Thunderbird no longer downloads mail from Yahoo though it did until 2 weeks ago or so. Now when checking for mail, I only see a "Local Folders: Checking Inbox for new messages" (screenshot) that eventually disappears after a while with no download. I can still send messages out from Thunderbird through Yahoo. I have done the "Please check the following before asking for support" : 1. I can log into my Yahoo account via the web and am using the same password 2. I only have one Yahoo account; all the other accounts work fine 3. I can send mail from Thunderbird through my Yahoo account with no problem 4. OAuth2 is active and can successfully establish a secure connection (screenshot) 5. Cookies are enabled with no exceptions (screen shot) 6. I do not use a VPN 7. Version is 151.0 (screenshot) 8. I checked the Error Console messages when Checking Inbox was active (screenshot) but do not understand it

I blocked out information on non-Yahoo accounts and email subjects on screen shots

Thanks, Connie PS I don't know what Thunderbird Version means or how to find it. I couldn't send this request in without that area filled in, so I put in the first number. My computer is a Dell from 2009. I'm vintage also and not very computer savvy.

HELLO! I'm having a problem with some messages. If I receive a message and the program places it in the "Offers" section, then when I try to move it to the "Inbox" section, it disappears. And I can't find it anywhere! This isn't just a problem with the latest version of Thunderbird, but has been for a long time. Today I received several messages from my bank that the program classified as "Offers," but when I tried to move them to the "Inbox" section, they disappeared!! Where are they? It's very frustrating because now these messages aren't even on the server!

PRELUDE: I have several email accounts. All accounts display properly, except one. Yes, this is similar to my question about bottom of the far left [of emails] list of emails - but this is different.

On the far left of Thunderbird is a list of all my email accounts with "Inbox" etcetera. Each email account shows it's Inbox/Sent/Deleted/ except for 1 account. The problem email account only shows it's Title and Inbox northing else. Yes, I tested it and sent emails to it, and used the problem email account to send, create a draft, and they don't show..
