Problem logging onto Zoho Mail with Firefox.

I have been using both Firefox and Zoho Mail for many years. Now, for some reason, Firefox seems to have a problem completing the Zoho Mail login from the same bookmark I have been using for years, or from a direct URL. The same Firefox installation cannot access Google Maps from a bookmark or directly using a complete URL, but does access some other applications as always.

Now the curious (to me, anyway) part. If I open a new private Firefox window, I can log into both Zoho Mail and Google Maps as I used to from the Firefox private window using bookmarks.

This helps me pinpoint Firefox as the problem – one part working, the other not.

My Firefox is up to date [Version 140.0.4 (64 bit)], and I have scanned all 1,350,000-plus files on my system for viruses and potential startup issues.

Should I reinstall Firefox? If so, how do I do that while keeping my bookmarks and password files?

If I use another browser (i.e., “Google Chrome), I can access both Zoho Mail and Google Maps with no difficulty. That is not a solution for me.

Firefox has been my foundation browser for decades. I don’t want to have to use anything else.

HELP!

Every now and then a folder flag will change to the drafts flag/icon, it seems to be a random occurrence which can happen to any sub-folder. Up until the most recent Thunderbird upgrade I had a working extension called FolderFlags which allowed me to go into the Folder properties and change it back but that extension no longer works with the latest version of Thunderbird and there is no alternative extension. How do I change the flag back to it showing as an ordinary sub-folder in my Inbox instead of Drafts? As an interim measure I've created a new sub-folder and copied the emails from the old into the new but that's not ideal at all. I hope somebody will create an updated extension but has anyone any other suggestions please?

None fixed my problem so I reset Firefox and still get the following message when I try to log into my tmrs.com; Unable to connect Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at www.tmrs.org. I have had this issue before and reported it as a broken site but am having the issue again with this and some other websites. Thank you

IMAGINE person1 has 20GB of emails saved in an Outlook Data File (ODF1). The emails (sent and received) span 30 years. They originated from 20 different, separate email accounts (including several DIFFERENT email accounts in each of yahoo.com, hotmail.com, gmail.com, mail.com, outlook.com, etc.). Each email from each different email account was synced from each email account’s online webserver with the Outlook email client of Microsoft Office's Outlook desktop app. Each email from each different email account was then MOVED from the Microsoft Office's Outlook INBOX of each different email account into FOLDERS (each organized by category and/or subject matter) corresponding to the category and/or subject matter of each email from all the different email accounts.

Person1's current modus operandi has been to save ODF1 on 2-3 external hard drives in order to (i) safeguard the integrity and posterity of all 20GB of emails and (ii) facilitate transitioning from a previous OLD computer to a future NEW computer.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has made the latter process onerous and expensive by transitioning from (a) the Home Use Program (HUP), which supplied “permanent” software (e.g., perpetual license for Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016), which was sold to member-employees for $10 and had updates for at least 10 years (effective user cost ca. $1 per year over 10 years), to (b) the Workplace Discount Program (WDP) which merely provides a 30% discount off the $100/year Microsoft 365 Personal subscription each year (effective user cost ca. $70 per year) ==> WDP effectively costs 70x what HUP used to cost each user.

Consequently, person1 wants to abandon Microsoft products altogether (especially since person1 uses only Word and Outlook) and find an alternative way to use ODF1 substantially and substantively the same way as person1 currently uses Microsoft Office's Outlook FOLDERS to save all the emails from all the various email accounts.

For example, Google Docs is more than adequate to replace Microsoft Word for Person1’s use. But person1 has not yet found an alternative for how person1 currently uses Microsoft Office's Outlook FOLDERS to save all the emails from all the various email accounts.

QUESTION: Will Thunderbird enable person1 to continue to use ODF1 substantially and substantively the same way as person1 currently uses Microsoft Office's Outlook FOLDERS to save (and transfer) all the emails from all the various email accounts, BUT WITHOUT using any version of Microsoft Office nor Microsoft 365 Personal?

If NOT, why not?

Had this problem suddenly crop up since the update of one of my accounts not sending mail due to timeouts. I've not changed any passwords or settings since I had it working last. The message is the "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) [my workplace's SMTP server] timed out. Try again." one, and it's preventing me from sending any emails.

Specifics:

  • It's one account (my work one: work runs an Outlook/Microsoft mail server).
  • My personal account (gmail) sends fine. Both accounts recieve email fine too, so this is just one direction on one account.

Things I've tried:

  • Switching my Firewall off makes no difference, so it's not a firewall problem
  • It's not that the emails I'm trying to send are too large, one word test emails also don't send
  • Extending the timeout time by 3x doesn't help

I also opened a second computer not yet running the latest version - the account worked fine. Then applied the upgrade and that broke things in exactly the same way as described above. So I'm pretty sure this is an issue caused by the upgrade in some way. Not sure if other people with Outlook servers are having the same problem or if there's any workaround available but would appreciate advice.

Hello, I opened up Thunderbird and it said it was downloading 28 messages but they don't show up in my inbox. I went online to log in to my email that way and the messages were downloaded. I check the trash in Thunderbird, they aren't there. The time stamp stops at 9:23am this morning and picks up with one message at 1:05 that I received after the 28 went missing. Any ideas where they might have gone? Thank you so much!

In a few previous updates, FF keeps messing around with the New Tab layout, ruining its previous good look. I learned to revert it back to its former setting by disabling browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-a and also browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-b in about:config.

Now in Firefox 141, browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-a has completely disappeared, no more allowing the poor user to get the look he wants.

Why? Am I missing something? What is the use of making the product worse or less user friendly?

I have Firefox running on 3 machines, only one of them is synced to my Firefox account, so that means that I am not running the same addons on all of them. I have Firefox running on Windows 10 and the two other are running on Windows 11. From time to time, I notice that Firefox is running slow and its unable to open normal websites like facebook, instagram, youtube, or any other website that I normally browse, and when I check the Task Manager I can notice one unusual exe running named "crashhelper.exe" which is located in the Firefox installation directory and its signed by Mozilla. Once I kill this task Firefox continues working as nothing happened. This is happening since the last update which was few weeks ago (if I remember correctly). What is this app doing and why it is making Firefox stop opening websites?

Sorry for my language.

The latest versions of Firefox 141 (and 142 beta 1) do not allow the Windows taskbar to appear when I move the mouse to the bottom of the screen. This happens on Windows 10 with the auto-hide taskbar setting enabled. In previous Firefox versions, this worked fine (except for one older version where it briefly broke). I’m not running Firefox in fullscreen mode, and I have no modifications or themes that could interfere. I tested this on a fresh, clean installation of Firefox — the issue still occurs. After downgrading to versions 140 and 139, everything works correctly again. Interestingly, I also tested the Firefox 141 Release Candidate Build 1 from here: 🔗 https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/candidates/141.0-candidates/ In that version, the issue only occurred in private browsing mode. Could someone please help me resolve this or confirm it as a bug? Thanks in advance!
