Stuck tab

Sometimes, I'll kill a tab and it'll stay there, it happens more when I use middle click to kill the tab. The only way that I have found to make the tab go away is to close firefox and start over from scratch. When this issue is appearing, I can't click the tab, or rather, when I do the one just to the right of it is activated.

Hi,

You're using IceWeasel 24.4.0 which is what Firefox ESR is based off of. ESR is only used for system administrators running a large network. It isn't "officially" supported here but some of this still take it on. Additionally, if you have any other issues with IceWeasel, you should find a 3rd party that supports troubleshooting for it.

Have you recently installed any new add-ons?
Can you try to access Firefox in Safe Mode to see if the problem still exists and/or if it opens? You can follow the below instructions to start it in that mode.

  • Go to Help > Restart with add-ons disabled
  • When Firefox closes and re-opens, select Start in Safe Mode

If Firefox works properly, then it's most likely one of your extensions misbehaving. You can enable your add-ons back on by one until you find the conflicting extension.

The only issue I have with this is that the problem isn't readily reproducable, it happens every so often, I cannot predict when it will happen.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.
