Why are letters missing when I type in the url field
In the last few days, I've had a problem with the URL field and the search field in Firefox 10.0.2. When I try to type a URL or search terms, not all of the keystrokes are recognized; it's as if I'm typing too fast for it to pick up or not pressing the keys with sufficient force, but I have no problems with missing characters in any other application or in plain text fields (such as this one) or in any other browser. I didn't take much notice of when firefox updated to the current version, but I believe it was late last week and I think the problem started then as well. this is happening on an IBM laptop running Windows 7 professional.
About the same time this started, the add on 'FoxTab' stopped working also. The tiles/buttons for all the sites I've favorited will not appear; all I get is a blank grey screen.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

The problem appears to be caused by my FoxTab add on. It disappeared when starting in safe mode, which led me to believe it was FoxTab, since I've been having issues with that for a week or so now as well. With that add on disabled, it appears the missing keystrokes problem is no longer occurring. I'm going to evaluate the situation for a few days to make sure.
