I have an eeePC/Xandros.
It's possible - but difficult - to update Firefox on the eeePC. Search on the eeePC forums - it's been covered there.
You may find it easier to update the OS to Ubuntu's Netbook Remix. That's what I decided to do - though I haven't done it yet!
