typing in the search window in the middle of the page jumps to the address bar at the top of the page How do I stop that? It does not matter which search engine I use Bing, Google, DuckDuckGo, It just started happening in Firefox.

You can set this pref to false on the about:config page to disable this feature.

  • about:config => browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. On the warning page, you can click "Accept the Risk and Continue" to open about:config.
