I am having problems using gmail plus even one additional tab

When I set up my computer, I have been using chrome for my work email and systems, and firefox for my personal email, for years now. This year I have found repeatedly that firefox will claim to have lost internet connection (ON A HARDWIRED COMPUTER) repeatedly during the day. And sometimes I will open a new tab to do a google search--and get a blank tab. Chrome works like a charm. No problems, ever. I have had IT work on this problem with me 5 times this fall (I'm in biological science). We have updated all the software and drivers, checked the computer's memory, checked the computer's upload and download speed, updated the docking station and replaced the wires. And Chrome works fine all the while. I think you have a problem, folks. I might have to ditch you.

For several versions now, some users have been getting a problem where Gmail and other Google sites work normally for a while but then they start getting "Oops" messages on Gmail and load failures on other Google sites.

If these users disable the "zero round trip resumption" feature -- it is intended to speed up reconnection with sites in active use, but doesn't seem completely compatible with Google -- that gives them relief. Here's how to try it:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste security.tls.enable_0rtt_data and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the preference to switch the value from true to false

After that, try Google again in a new tab. Any improvement?
