Hello,

I love Firefox. I have been using it for a long time and trust the browser. However, in the last 2 months, I (and others I know) are facing multiple problems with Firefox. After one of the updates in late Feb or early Mar, Firefox stops loading new pages (it still opens a tab but does not load the page). I thought maybe it is an issue with memory, however, any other browser works fine at that time. I have never faced this issue and every time I have used my laptop for an extended time this issue pops up. I would ask if this can be resolved in an upcoming update as it is impacting the user experience with the browser and it is not always possible to turn off the laptop just to fix a browser issue. In these cases, I end up using another browser (which is becoming more common). I have started hearing from some of my friends that they have already started using Chrome (WTF) instead as this issue is bothering them a lot.

Thank you.

As with most software, Firefox can become slow and buggy as it accumulates extensions and data. You can try Refreshing Firefox. Important: This will remove all your extensions, themes, and reset some settings, so if you have made a lot of customizations and installed many extensions that you definitely want to keep, you should not do this. Note that your data (Bookmarks, Passwords, History, etc.) will be saved and not lost.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022":

You may also have to install the Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable Package. You need to reboot the computer.

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox application. Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
