Hi MBill, what does it look like?

After an update, Firefox displays a page called about:welcome which you can view by pasting that into the address bar and pressing Enter to load it. Currently it talks about Sync. Is that the one you do not want to see?

On the built-in home/new tab page, Firefox displays Snippets at the bottom which may provide information on various Mozilla activities and projects. You can remove those if you like. See: Snippets in Firefox FAQ. Was that it?

If it's something else, I wonder whether one of your extensions could be doing it. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

• Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
• "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
• type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
