Hi, For some reason my bookmarks folders are now grey and not yellow.I didn't do anything and i don't have many addons so i don't know what the problem might be. I don't have any theme.I'm using the default one.The addons i'm using are uBlock Origin,MP3 podcaster and one to customize the new tab page. And from those 3 only the uBlock is active in the Beta version.I'm using the 57.0b4 (64-bit) version.Τried in safe mode but the problem still exists.

Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply but have you read my post? You gave me a random link with solutions for the problems below: My Bookmarks Toolbar is missing My bookmarks have disappeared My Google Bookmarks are missing No bookmarks are visible after installing an add-on I can't find my bookmarks after importing them I can see only the default set of bookmarks in the Bookmarks folder

^^I don't have any of those problems. My problem is that my bookmarks folders colour from the original yellow are now grey. English is not my native language but i think i made it quite clear what my problem is. The photo i added i think it says it all but i will add 1 more to saw you what i mean. In the first one you can see what colour the folders should have and in the second you can see what colour they have now.

I have to say this totally in a friendly way.If you want and can help me please do..But don't throw me random solutions and waist my time. Thanks.

They are not random solutions. If looked at the above URL then would have seen a link called Determine if Firefox has created a new profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-lost-or-missing-bookmarks#w_determine-if-firefox-has-created-a-new-profile

Have you determined if Firefox has created a new Profile ??? If not please say so, if so please say so and we can then try something else. It is a process of elimination sometimes. Please follow suggested instructions to fix your issue.

I have only one profile.Maybe i had to clarify that.

Have you tried to add any new folders to the Bookmarks Toolbar ? Did/do they change colour ? Have you looked in Bookmarks Menu and if so are the folders that are there if made others have they changed colour or remained yellow ?

There is a lot of information that you have yet to supply.

more options

All the folders (in Bookmarks Menu too) have grey colour.Even if i create a new folder that folder will have grey colour.

I do not know if this still works in your version or not. Could you have a look and see if the value has been changed to True instead of False.

Do the browser.chrome.* prefs still have their default value?

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

   http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config

It is also possible that an extension is causing this problem and isn't working properly.

   https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

Please also disable all Extensions and Add-ons and reboot and see if extensions are the issue as previous solution needed to disable one.

I'm not sure what the default values are and for that i will post a photo. Also i disabled all the addons and extensions and the problem remains.I tried to run Firefox in safe mode also but the result was the same.

Well still looking all cures so far for this have been archived and no longer work it seems. https://www.google.ca/search?q=firefox+bookmark+folders+turned+grey&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=BwXPWb6pF6ea0gLX9bdI

On a Seperate or maybe not your Flash is out of date ver 27 is the latest and you have ver 26 running. Please update it. https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

Seems there has been a on and off bug since ver 55 that can cause this. Reply that you have installed new Flash or deleted it and will let some one else work on this that knows more on current/beta versions. Thanks.

Flash player didn't work.I really don't know what is going on.It's really weird.Anyway..I have to go for now.If you see any other solution please post it.

Thanks.

I think that is how it will work with the new Photon design (gray style SVG images instead of colored PNG images are used).

  • chrome://browser/skin/browser.css

Firefox 56 shows this for me in the bookmarks sidebar and 57+ may show it in other places as well. What I do not like is that smart bookmarks queries get a cogwheel icon.

  • chrome://browser/skin/places/folder.svg
  • chrome://browser/skin/places/folder-smart.svg

You can probably override this with code in userChrome.css, but getting all the CSS selectors right for all types of folders may not be easy. It may also be possible to add color with a 'filter' CSS rule.

Sorry for the late response. If the grey colour it's the new standard i will be disappointed.Yellow colour for the folders is way better. I will change the colour using css but i hope you will think twice before you take the final decision about the folder's colour.

Thank you.

HI

I can confirm what cor-el about this being a design change. Previously folder colour did depend on the underlying operating system, but now it has been unified across the board.

more options

You probably would have to use a complete theme with colored icons for the folders to be able to change this.

I don't know if you solved your problem, but I was able to solve the same thing today, so I thought I'd pass the following info on to you... (This assumes you created in your Profile folder a folder named Chrome and that you created a text document named userChrome.css within it:

This is the site where I got the SVG fill code that I copied and pasted to my userChrome.css file that changed my Bookmark folders from gray back to yellow.:

https://www.userchrome.org/what-is-userchrome-css.html

.Just scroll down until you see the SVG fill code... Copy all the code; then go into your css file and right click to edit - choose either Notepad or Notepad++ When the screen opens, paste the code onto it and save Exit and shut down the computer, then restart it The bookmark folders now should be yellow
