Hello!

Since I downloaded Firefox the other day I am not able to connect to gmail from this specific browser, yet it works in Chrome and Edge. Twice I have deleted and reinstalled Firefox, and the same issue remains. I am running the most current version of Firefox, have no addons, and have attemped the troubleshooting for similar threads. Yet my Privacy settings are set on default and there is no blacklisted website at all.

Please help. Firefox is my favorite browser but if I can't acces my email in it then it's just junk to me.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Flaghertyy, are you getting a specific message about cookies? Please describe the symptoms in a little more detail.

I get this message every time I try and log on

Could you confirm your cookie settings:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

In the left column, click Privacy. On the right side, if the selector is not "Firefox will: use custom settings for history" please change it to that.

Then I would expect you to have these defaults:

[X] Accept cookies from sites Accept third party cookies: Always Keep until: they expire (I close Firefox also works with Google)

Does that all line up normally?

Is there anything special about how Firefox connects? You could check whether you have Firefox set to use a proxy server in settings, and switch that off as a test. You can do that on the Options page:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

In the left column, click Advanced. On the right side, click the "Network" mini-tab and then the "Settings" button.

The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows LAN connection settings, but you could try "No proxy" to see whether that helps.

Thanks for your help jscher2000!

I tried to unselect the "will accept cookies from sites" box and that allowed me to access the gmail main screen, however that's as far as I get. When I'm redirected to my school domain login the page refuses to load. So basically still can't access my email, and when I tried to acces my Yahoo account with the box unselected Yahoo didn't work because my browser didn't accept cookies.

Then I changed the proxy settings to "no proxy" and that hasn't had any effect at all on Gmail.

Thank you very much for your continuing help!

No, you can't refuse all cookies because then sites that require a login won't work. Please re-check the box to accept cookies.
