fx version: 31.7.0 ESR OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (all updates installed). Installed physical memory: 8GB.

When m browsing with firefox, "Paged Pool" in task manager is constantly increasing. I start the computer with 215MB in paged pool, after browsing for 2 hours, my paged pool is at 550MB. Closing firefox does not release the paged pool, restarting the computer does.

If I browse with Internet Explorer, paged pool does not increase, well it does, but only by 5MB in 2 hours.

Just a while back, I searched Google Images for "HD Wallpapers for Windows", and downloaded about 50 wallpapers, my Paged Pool went up to 700MB. Then I downloaded another 50 wallpapers in IE, paged pool was at 702MB. IE increased paged pool by 2MB, fx increased it by about 500MB.

Downloading stuff using uTorrent does not increase Paged Pool at all, so m guessing it's not the network driver? Downloads are not increasing Paged pool, but Browsing (specially images) in firefox is making it go crazy.

Non-paged pool does not increase much, it's only paged pool that's spiraling out of control.

i absolutely HATE internet explorer. Please fix my firefox friends :(

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

Fred, i disabled hardware acceleration, but the problem persists. I called up HP technical support, they think the problem is not caused by Firefox- using firefox just triggers the problem, which is caused by a bad driver. They did a remote-login on my computer, and uninstalled Intel Rapid Storage driver. Asked me to check if the issue persists.

M browsing with firefox now, let's see if RST removal solved the problem... Task manager readings look better so far.. Thanks for helping :)

That is half the amount as before with that driver switch :-D I had to look up what a paged pool memory meant: "The paged pool consists of virtual memory that can be paged in and out of the system. " Source: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr.../aa965226%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

Note that IE uses a lot of built-in Windows components (IE can be seen as a shell program) that may not show as resources that belong to IE. Firefox is an individual program and includes all components, so you will see its full memory usage. 500 MB after some hours surfing internet doesn't seem that much to me, but you can check if running Firefox in Safe Mode makes a difference.
