Hi, I have downloaded my mails from google account through google 'takeout'. This has created a file with file extension mbox. When I try to read this file through Thunderbird, I can see only files which have .msf extension. These files are just headers and don't contain the actual emails. What am I doing wrong? Please help.
There must be a way to say "THIS sender is valid, always put messages from them to Inbox." Your instructions on how to do that do not work.

Hello,
I sometimes receive large file attachment while using Thunderbird. My current version is 91.9.1. When I try to save the attachment to local computer, it saves the file as 1KB file size with no error messages or anything. I did not have this problem in the past with older Thunderbird version.
Does this problem happens only in the newer version? I was able to download the same attachment using gmail. I hope that I do not have to go through this every time I get a large file attachment.
Thank you.
The latest version of Thunderbird has deleted all my folders. What Can I do? Please Help.

I have changed absolutely nothing on my computer and this has just happened out of the blue. The following message appears whenever I attempt to send an email:- Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 626F290E04D8BA88 Message content rejected due to suspected spam. OB703. Please check the message and try again.
Tell me how to fix this.
Is it your end?

For IMAP servers, the default action of Thunderbird's shift-delete is to bypass Trash and mark the message as deleted on the server. Thunderbird then does not show messages that are marked as deleted. This is fine if you are only using Thunderbird because the emails don't appear in Trash and don't appear in the folder they were deleted from.
However, if you are using other mail clients eg Outlook Mobile, Samsung Email client, webmail, these mail clients do not seem to recognise the "marked as deleted" attribute (whatever that is) and they still show the email. So if I shift-delete a mail in Thunderbird these other clients still show the email plus I do not actually save any disk space.
In Thunderbird if I just delete an email (not shift-delete) then the mail is moved to Trash and is actually no longer in the original folder. It is not just marked as deleted from the original folder, it is actually gone. So these other mail clients, also can no longer see the mail.
How can I get Thunderbird to actually delete a mail when I use shift-delete instead of just marking it as deleted? I don't want to have to wait till I exit Thunderbird.
I have tried setting mail.imap.expunge_after_delete to true and mail.imap.expunge_option to 1 but these seem to have no effect

My server admin deleted then recreated the IMAP files on the server for one of my profiles. Naturally when I logged in the local profile interpreted this as empty In and Sent boxes. So now when I go to that profile it shows no In or Sent messages. However, on my hard drive it still appears the original Inbox is intact with 517mb of data.
Also, in the INBOX.sbd folder there is a "Sent-1" folder with 73.6mb of data. I'm assuming these are my sent messages
What steps do I need to go through to at least recover access to these messages? I would prefer to be able to restore them to the server, but barring that would at least like to be able to still access them locally from the same profile, or failing that at least a profile I would create for the older messages.
Thanks for your help!

I made a huge mistake, I was trying to make Thunderbird view larger, now it's much to large to be functional or to make changes or go back to original settings. Here's what happened.
I went into "advanced settings" and changed layout.css.dev.Pixels.Per.Px the size is to large and now I can not view or make changes to Thunderbird. I tried deleting Thunderbird and re-installing it but no luck, the re-install has same large scale issue.

Hello, this morning I started Thunderbird as usual, and it did not load my emails and check for new ones. It asks me to Set Up an Existing Email Account as if it were a new installation and none of my existing accounts are visible.
I can see what I presume are the most recent in box etc under the profile
C:\Users\Rildon\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\enbbe6vv.default
but how to make Thunderbird see the account(s) I already have been using ?
I searched the help database but wasn't sure which words to search for.
Thanks for any help

I followed the instructions for adding a mail.com email account to my Thunderbird email application on Windows 7 and it keeps giving me this result message:
Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.
None of this is the case. I re-checked my entry of both many, many times, they're always correct and I've repeatedly tried to get this process to go through with success, to no avail. Also, I tried putting in my Domain and Username as indicated in the 4th entry area in the image I've included, my network domain and my computer name, which made no difference to my lack of success.
I even broke down and paid for a 1-year "Premium"Mail.com account, where doing just this is supposed to be one of the "perks"! All I can ask at this point, since I appear to be doing this right, why won't it work? If anyone can suggest a secret that the instructions I followed lacks, I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks!

When I open my email, then go to my Bulk Mail folder sometimes I get a message "Server IMAP.mail Yahoo Mail.com has disconnected. Server may have gone down, or maybe a network problem. I mentioned this to a Rogers tech and he said it is not their problem - probably a software/programme problem. Any ideas?

I cannot send emails from Thunderbird. I am using MS Windows 10 and my ISP is comcast.net. My email provider uses MS’s Outlook servers. For years I had no trouble using Thunderbird. Even after my email provider switched to using Microsoft’s Outlook servers. But when I subscribed to Microsoft’s Office365 and accidentally opened its Outlook module/application I was no longer able to send out emails. I could of course receive and send emails when I logged into the web version of Outlook, but while I could still receive emails I could no longer send them via Thunderbird. When I installed the latest version of Thunderbird (78.14.0 (32-bit)) I was no longer able to even receive emails. However, when I set up a “new” account (and used the email provider given password, which works at the web version of Outlook) and switched from POP3 to IMAP I was able to receive emails again, but I am still unable to send emails. I have tried numerous settings for my Outgoing Server (SMTP). None have worked. So my questions are: 1. What are the appropriate SMTP settings? I’ve tried so many, so I’m not providing the current ones. I’d like to start with a clean slate! 2. Are there any settings elsewhere that I need to tweak? 3. Why can’t I see (and alter if necessary) my password in my settings? (I assume they are still the appropriate ones that I inserted when I set up my account again.) However, even when I manually insert them after an error message and a form asking for my password they do not work. I’ve tried it with my antivirus and firewall protections (Webroot & Windows) turned off. SC
