Intermittently (maybe 1/20 times?), when I try to do a Google search from the URL bar I'll get a tab that doesn't load for about 30 seconds. If I search for the exact same thing in another tab it will load instantly, and if I select the url and press enter it will also load instantly. I am seeing this issue both when entering a search and when selecting text and clicking "Search Google for X".
I found a recommendation on a similar issue to set security.tls.enable_0rtt_data = false in about:config but I have seen no change with that setting.

firefox recently started to hang up. I have used Mozilla since the old Netscape days and would surely hate to stop now but I can't deal with this.

After updating to Firefox 116, my keyboard does not put correct characters in address bar eg: if I type www, I get 345, if I go back and type again I get m,. and if i go back I get something different again. I have tried different keyboard, refreshed firefox, restarted computer but still get same result. I have had to use Google chrome to send this report. Can anyone advise? thanks Michael.

Firefox is downloading files directly to my Downloads folder instead of asking despite having turned on every setting that says it should ask first. Under about:preferences I have turned on "Always ask you where to save files" under Downloads, and I have set Applications to "Ask whether to open or save files". I have even gone in to about:config and turned off "browser.download.useDownloadDir", but the files are still going directly to my default folder.

How does the translator determine when it is activated? Does the translator give the ability to translate selected text, or just the visited page?
I was trying to find a site to test it. I found this.
Maybe it's not an ideal example, but it neither translates the page, or gives the option to translate selected text.

So I have a video playing on firefox, but the moment it drops from the foreground, it immediately pauses the video (the actual video playback). The audio continues, but the video stops until it is back in the foreground, at which point the video continues where it ought to. I have tried disabling the unload tabs in the config menu as well as disable the foreground pausing or whatever its called, as recommended by previous posts. I used to not have this issue at all, so I'm not sure what changed. Please help! Thank you.

playing video on YouTube is sometimes choppy
Most of the videos I watch on Youtube play normally, without any problems, but some play choppy, as if they lag, this is very rare on YouTube, for example, a couple of days ago I opened a video, it's choppy, and now I opened it, it's going fine, when I open a private window and go to a very well-known site, all videos without exception lag
I've tried all of the fixes to make the scrollbar wider, but none of them have worked. Anyone have something else to try?

Hello!
I'm curious if there was a recent change in Firefox for macOS that started marking items copied from private windows as "concealed"?
I've been using Firefox for quite some time and last week started noticing that my clipboard history app, Alfred, was no longer storing anything I copied out of private windows.
Initially I reached out to Alfred and they suggested this was on Firefox's end:
Upon further investigation, I can see that Firefox intentionally marks its clipboard data as Concealed in order to protect searches done in a private window.
If this is true, can I turn this off somehow? It really breaks my workflow and am unfortunately stuck using Chrome at the moment.
Thanks!

I am unable to sign into Costco.com using Firefox. I get an error message:
"Bad Request - Header Field Too Long HTTP Error 400. A request header field is too long."
Turning off all extensions didn't help. Opening a private browsing window DID work. Using Chrome DID work.
Thanks!

Majority of the songs do not play and I'm given with a pop-up, "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."
I will play a song from a playlist and is given that pop-up, it will continue skipping to the next song until it plays, but only for 9-10 seconds until the song mutes, to specify, the dot (when hovered on the progress bar) will still move, indicating that "it's playing".
Some clarifications: 1. I use Spotify Desktop app (windows), Spotify App (android), and Spotify Webplayer on Chrome and Firefox. Everything works just as fine on all of these, except for Spotify Webplayer on Firefox. 2. Skipping to a later timestamp does not unmute the song. 2. I have Spotify Premium 3. I have no VPN 4. I am running Firefox with an ad blocker 5. I am running Chrome with an ad blocker (same ad blocker in Fifefox) 6. I am running Firefox to the latest version (Firefox 119.0.1 (20231106151204))
What I've done so far: 1. Cleared caches and data. 2. Updated my Windows to the latest update available - Win10 v.22H2 3. Signed-out of Spotify for all my devices, then logging-in first on Spotify Desktop (this automatically redirects to Firefox webplayer) 4. Ran Firefox on "Troubleshoot Mode" 5. Un-checked and re-checked "Play DRM content" setting. 6. Disabled and re-enabled the plug-in "Widevine Content Decryption Module by Google Inc". (this plug-in is last udpated on November 17, 4.10.2710.0
I'm including this link from Spotify's Community page.. where two other users, who commented it is only with Firefox (webplayer), are experiencing the same problem as I am. https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/Spotify-can-t-play-this-right-now-If-you-have-the-file-on-your/m-p/5679914#M123192

Some websites, like my bank, don’t let you paste into the password field. I don’t want to manually type in the password. I found a workaround:
But the problem is that pasting into a google document no longer works. I have to revert the value back to “true” to get copy-pasting working in a google document.
Is there a way to have the best of both worlds: paste in google docs and paste in sites that block pasting, like my bank?

I am using Firefox 115.3 on Debian 12.1. I have numerous tasks which require the use of my web browser and have allocated a different virtual desktop for each. This means that my browser session typically has several dozen tabs open in numerous windows at one time. Under normal circumstances, this works just fine (and is a testament to the engineering that has gone into this browser).
My issue is that Firefox renders my machine virtually unusable for a few minutes each time I restart my desktop session due to focus stealing. When I open the browser, several dozen windows pop up (as expected) and relocate to their correct virtual desktops (as expected); however, as the windows begin to load, the most recently active Firefox window steals focus repeatedly. If I am, for instance, in the process of typing my password into my desktop e-mail client, a Firefox window may steal focus from the password dialog. In practice, this focus steal happens once every few seconds for several minutes.
I would prefer that Firefox would not steal focus while restoring a session. Does anyone have any suggestions for correcting this issue?

hello! i've been having an issue with mozilla where webp images are not loading at all. this is especially prevalent on youtube, where thumbnails simply do not load, as well as on tumblr, where if an image or gif is a webp file, it will refuse to load. both are attached in the image below to see the difference between firefox and chrome, as the images load fine on chrome. as well as that, discord, when opened with browser instead of the app, does not load profile pictures, server icons, or custom emojis. google hadn't helped me at all, and i don't know what to do at this point. i don't want to go back to using chrome.
in the attached image, the top images show a set of shark sculptures. the first does not load on mozilla, and looking at the image file, it is a webp. the second image is revealed to be a jpg, which mozilla treats normally. in the second set of images, there's a quick look at a random youtuber's page, the top being mozilla and the bottom being chrome, and you can see the mozilla thumbnails do not load.
thank you for reading! i'm very confused and am unsure what to do. any help is appreciated!
