I have lost my tabs after the recent update. They used to show all tab groups in toolbar icon as mentioned here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tab-groups) in manage tabs section. Only the groups that were open are retained, the groups which were closed are lost. They contained important tabs which I haven't bookmarked. I didn't see any policy of removal of inactive tab groups after certain time, any help would be really appreciated. I use the desktop app on Linux.

I am running Firefox 144.0 on kubuntu 24.04.3 LTS I have lost sound on Firefox. I have opened the same sites in Chrome and the sound is working fine. It's only in Firefox. I have tried several sites including Udemy, YouTube, and radio programs, no sound from Firefox. The problem started in the middle of a Jit.Si session. All of a sudden the sound disappeared. I thought that restart Firefox would help, then restart the computer would help. But the problem has continued. The speakers is turned on the volume is up, just not a sound from Firefox. What to do?

Hi all,
I use LinuMint 17.3 Cinnamon 2.8.8 (64-bit) with 3.19.0-32-generic kernel.
Yesterday I upgraded my version of Thunderbird to the 60.2.1 (64-bit). It came automatically with LinuxMint update manager, which I usually trust, so did yesterday. Unfortunately I find out that Lighting extension, with all my calendar data, just disappeared. I followed the suggestions here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird) but I turned out that is not possible to restore Lighting in my case. If I try to re-install it, it simply says the current Lighting version is not available for the latest Thunderbird one.
I backed up all my profile data and .thunderbird folder, so I hope to be able to find a way to fix this somewhere in the future.
I tried to downgrade Thunderbird, but it seems not possible to me to download a previous version from this website, neither I find it on my MintInstall manager. Any suggestion for this would be of great help. Also, if there is a Lighting version coming up anytime soon I'd be relieved of knowing that.
In the meanwhile, I would also appreciate if you can tell me a way to at least read my calendar from the .sqlite files in claendar-data folder. Maybe there's an alternative software I can use for this purpose? I tried also SeaMonkey, but it seems incompatible with a lot of stuff on my computer and it simply does not run when launched).
I am kind of desperate. Any suggestion is a big help. Alf

Thunderbird updated to 60.2.1 and Lightning disappeared. I followed the guidance in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird, and got Lightning back (V6.2.2.1). However, in Get Add-ons, it is still grayed out and listed as "incompatible with your version of Thunderbird", which is a bit disconcerting. My life is in my calendar, and I can't afford compatibility issues.
Is this just a matter of the add-ons library not having the most up-to-date version (or a bad compatibility checker), but what was somehow magically reloaded into my Thunderbird is completely fine? Or is the latest version that has been reloaded actually still incompatible in some way, and I'm waiting for the other shoe to fall with problems that will turn up later?

I am trying to setup Thudnerbird to retrieve my Outlook365 emails from the University.
The software has been able to validate the servers, IMAP and SMTP, however when testing I receive an error message saying the the "Username or Password is invalid".
I don't know how much this relates but I am afraid the Micorosoft accounts through school use some kind of double authentication or similar.
Any help will be greatly appreciate it.

I upgraded to Thunderbird 60.2.1 on Linux Mint and I'm having some trouble with fonts.
The first problem was that the size of fonts in my sent/received emails became much larger. I had it set to 14 but it looked like it was 16. Changing the font size under Preferences -> Display -> Default font -> Size had no effect, and the font size remained the same size whatever I set it to. Checking in the Config Editor I found the setting that changed by Default font -> Size is font.size.variable.x-western. After messing around for a while I tried changing font.size.variable.x-unicode and found this is what changes the font size in sent/received emails. It therefore seems that Thunderbird 60 is now using the x-unicode font while the Default font -> Size settings are still changing the x-western font. Is this a bug or has something gone wrong on my system?
The second issue I have is that many emojis are now showing as the simple monochrome versions instead of the full colour versions, so there seems to be another font issue. Looking at the values of font.name.sans-serif.x-western and font.name.sans-serif.x-unicode I found both of them are set to the default and that the Value box is empty. Checking another machine that still had Thunderbird 52.9.1 on I found that font.name.sans-serif.x-western and font.name.sans-serif.x-unicode where also set to the default on that, but the Value box contained sans-serif. I tried setting the two values manually to sans-serif on Thunderbird 60.2.1 but emojis continued not to display correctly. I also looked what font Firefox uses, since emojis display correctly in that, and found it uses DejaVu Serif. Out of interest I tried setting font.name.sans-serif.x-unicode to DejaVu Serif, but while the appearance of the font changed to a serif font, many emojis remained monochrome. What's the best way to get emojis displaying correctly in Thuderbird 60 on Linux?
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

After upgrading to Thunderbird 60.2.1, I can no longer send messages. I'm running Linux 4.15.0-38-generic.
I get the attached error saying that I have problems with STARTTLS SMP. However, I have my connection security as SSL/TLS (second attachment). I haven't changed anything for years on my connection security. I successfully sent emails yesterday. Sending still works on my other machine (Windows) with v 59 and the same settings..

FYI - I've been using T=Bird for years so not a noob. Developers: This is an important security feature and should be repaired.
Just "upgraded" to 18.04 Xubuntu 32-bit which includes T-bird 60.2 and experienced the following. (no add-ons) New messages were being marked "read" immediately when moused over or selected, no delay. Not usually a problem because there was a settings in Tools>Options>Display... The problem is that with 60.2 this Tools feature is gone (on my install) and there is no access to the unread/read delay setting. I solved the problem by going into the flags ("Here be Dragons", accessed via Preferences>Advanced > Config Editor) Warning! Do not use the config editor unless you are confident you won't damage anything. Open Config Editor> Search: "message_read" no quotes You should see the three results / flags below. To enable delay change "read.delay;false" to true. This is done by either a double click or right click > select Toggle. After you change it it will be bold, that's normal. It's just to let you know it was modified. Leave the other two as is unless you want more or less of a delay then change the number at "delay.interval" mine was 5 so it's fine. Leave "read.auto" set to true. Close the editor and it's done.
(this is how it looks when delay is disabled) mailnews.mark_message_read.auto;true mailnews.mark_message_read.delay;false mailnews.mark_message_read.delay.interval;5
(this is delay enabled) mailnews.mark_message_read.auto;true mailnews.mark_message_read.delay;true mailnews.mark_message_read.delay.interval;5
That's it. Your messages will now change from unread to read in 5 seconds not instantly. If you have the Tools>Options on your system by all means avoid the Config Editor but since it's missing on mine it's probably missing on others' as well. I searched for a solution before posting this and didn't find it so hope this is helpful to someone.

I've installed Nightly the same way I have for years on my latest Fedora 33 install—i.e., download tarball, extract into /opt, set appropriate chmod and chown, make .desktop file, etc.—but certain videos certain videos on certain sites refuse to play. A Fedora discussion discussion led me to think it's how Fedora 33 may sandbox apps; I haven't yet had any hits on solutions in the Fedora groups, so I thought I'd ask here, since I can't be the only one with this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In Thunderbird 60.0, when moving emails, a "thumbnail" of the email lines is showing, which will hide the highlighting of the destination folder.
In older version, I could easily move several emails from one folder to another and see the highlighting of the destination folder.
How can I change this back to the previous way?
When only moving one email, this is not a big issue (still a little one), but when moving several, it is, as I cannot know for sure at which folder I'm pointing. (Screenshot attached)
I've found that, if I drag in the left side of the lines, or at the top or bottom line, I can avoid hiding the destination folder, but this is not a very convenient way of organising my emails.

I have used Thunderbird for a few years and never had a problem until now. I am on Linux Mint and I updated to Thunderbird 60.2.1 I just launched it and the calendar (lightning) is no longer compatible with this version, this is stupid, the calendar feature is an important and integral part of any email system! I have six months of appointments, tasks and events just wiped out why update when something important like the calendar is not going to work. Can this be fixed? if not Thunderbird is no longer fit for purpose.
I don't want to have to start messing around installing an earlier version

I created a few virtual hosts and sites on my local machine and this is working perfectly.
Problem is with Firefox, when I enter non-existant url in address bar, Firefox force me to search and don't let me to open the url, but I need to go to this url for testing, developing, etc...
Any solution?

Hi there!
I'm attempting to migrate my Firefox (106.0.3) profile from the Linux Mint V20.3 on one SSD to a new installation of Linux Mint V21 on a separate SSD. I'm using the information supplied on this page:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Step 4, under Backing up your profile says: Right-click on your profile folder (e.g. xxxxxxxx.default), and select Copy.
This folder, qspfoqtl.default, contains 1 file, named times.json, the contents of which are:
{ "created": 1618792039414, "firstUse": null }
Clearly, not my Firefox profile.
There is, however, a folder named nnob5aww.default-release that contains a bunch of directories and files (505.4MB) with names like bookmarkbackups, browser-extension-data... storage, weave.
Is this documentation incorrect as of this release of Firefox? And, should I be using the nnob5aww.default-release folder as the profile? I'm a little confused. (Most often, I'm a lot confused.) Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
- Ralph

Hello, in past versions of Firefox, I was able to follow the steps on this page to set a custom HTML file on my PC as my home page for new tabs: https://peterries.net/blog/firefox-ubuntu-local-file/
I have Firefox 107.0.1 now and it's not happening. When I open the browser from scratch, I see my custom home page file. But when I open a new tab, I just see a blank screen. If I then click the Home icon on the toolbar, I do see my custom HTML page, but I don't want to have to click that button for each new tab.
Right now, in my settings, I have the URL to the page set as the custom URL for the HTML fiile, like this:
file:///home/peter/Documents/homepage/peter-home-homepage.html
That works. And I also have followed the steps on that blog post to customize my /usr/lib/firefox/autoconfig.cfg and my ../firefox/defalults/pref/autoconfig.js files. That's no longer working.
Did something in a recent version change? Is this no longer supported? Thanks for any ideas!
