Some fonts randomly use an ugly, blocky font for no reason. I've seen it happen on some web pages and PDFs but not on all. I have tried other browsers but it is a Firefox-only problem. It doesn't occur in troubleshooting mode as shown in the attached picture. Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

TB 102.10.0, IMAP to Gmail: I routinely download messages from my Inbox to local folders, and I want them permanently deleted from the Gmail server when I do, but they're accumulating in All Mail instead.

I just haven't been able to get the right combination of TB and Gmail settings. Anybody know how to make this happen?

(TB is really slow when it has to download thousands of messages each time!)

I seem to be unable to suddenly access Bing.com for some reason. I'm getting a Secure Connection Failed error. I thought it was a simple downtime but it isn't. I'm also not seeing a security certificate. Check down detectors and its just me. So what gives? It was fine yesterday. I pretty much checked everything. no proxy's or anything.

This is driving me crazy and also interrupting my work.

Forcing Cmd/Ctrl+click to ALWAYS open the link in a background tab - even in Google Docs?

My preferences are set so that "When you open a link, image or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately" is OFF. Therefore most of the time when I Cmd+click on a link, it opens on a new tab that loads in the background. This is what I want.

However, some websites break that behavior. 2 high-profile examples:

  • In Google Docs, if a piece of text links to an URL, clicking on the text shows a small window with the URL. Cmd+click on that URL opens it in a new tab, and takes me to that tab.
  • In Facebook Messenger, if I Cmd+click on a chat, again the chat opens in a new tab and I'm taken there. Additionally, the original tab activates that chat.

Interestingly, in both these cases, I get the right behavior if I right-click on the URL or in the chat and in the contextual menu choose "Open link in new window/tab/container tab": the new tab stays in the background.

So my question is: does anyone know of a way to always make cmd+click behave just like "Open link in new tab", no matter the website?

I'm on Firefox 115b4 on macOS, but this has been like this for years at least.

The other day, one of my hard disks went on the blink and became very slow to access (minutes, not seconds). At the time, many of my email accounts were storing the mail on that disk. I've copied all the files off to a working disk and dumped the old disk. I changed Thunderbird to point to the new location. Now, all of the accounts are working again, except one (using POP). Thunderbird simply won't check email on that account, and the last email shown is 4 days ago. When I click Get Messages and select the account, nothing seems to happen. Nothing shows up in the Activity Manager. The account is definitely working on the server-side, as I can view it in K-9 on my phone, and another account on the same POP server is working fine in Thunderbird. Outgoing email on the account sends fine.

I've tried various suggestions, including wiping my password database (Thunderbird did not prompt me for that account) but nothing seems to make a difference. I wonder if it's to do with the Inbox (which is a hefty 7GB mbox file). I tried Repair Folder on the Inbox but it did not make a difference; Thunderbird still won't check the email. I did briefly try renaming the Inbox file to Old-Inbox but Thunderbird still wouldn't check the email. I want to make sure I retain all my old emails (they are all showing, so it doesn't look like the file got corrupted). Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get the email working again without losing all the mailboxes?

Hi there! I am a long time Chrome user and decided to try Mozilla Firefox. I loved it and after a bit of tweaking, I run into a problem I can't deal with myself. In Chrome I loved auto fill options every time I needed the option for my home address, email address or credit card. In Firefox I just can't do it. The option is only available for Canada or SUA. Is there any way I can make it work? Of course, I looked for some add-ons and actually found several, but given the fact that auto-fill in my case deals with personal and sensitive data, I need a safer method. Is there any? Thank you!

Just updated to Firefox 114 from version 113 on Fedora 37 and spotted difference in the font rendering using the old profile.

On Firefox 114, the fonts are larger. I could not make it the same as in Firefox 113, despite all the configuration in the profile is the same. Downgrading to Firefox 113 return the previous font size/rendering.

However, in Firefox 114 there's a font difference even between my old profile and fresh new profile. The font configuration in the settings is exactly the same between these two profiles (default profile, Latin and Cyrillic — the same font families, sizes, checkboxes, i've even checked about:config options searching by "font" — all the same).

Check the screenshots.

I opened about:certificate to make sure my local O/S certs were in order and noticed the Servers tab and after opening it saw that DigiNotar Root CA was the one and only entry. I know all about the DigiNotar fiasco and how their root cert was left enabled after the NL government took over in order to prevent a bunch more problems. However, I don't understand why that cert is listed in my Servers tab and why it isn't anywhere in my Settings -> Certificates options window. I have used a couple self-signed certs in the past for localhost web server stuff where I got tired of the SSL warning over HTTP on my local domain, but otherwise only have my PGP key and haven't messed with anything otherwise. Should I be worried? This thing happened several years ago and the Root Cert I have is listed as expiring in about a year and a half.

I have Thunderbird 115.0b2 installed and using unified folders. When I delete a message from my inbox or even any of my local folders, the deleted message does not move to my Trash folder. Basically, the email is gone. I looked through all the various TB settings and cannot find any that would cause this action. I really want the deleted emails to go into the Trash folder in case I make an error deleting the wrong email one day. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you, Steve

Thunderbird is suddenly unable to connect to Gmail. Instead, receive an error msg "Could not connect to mail server imap.gmail.com; the connection was refused". The problem may be connected to an automatic update Windows-10 by Microsoft Windows initiated 6-15-2023 but unable to find anything being communicated along that line of thought. Similar to an earlier post (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1398079), I have been using TB to connect to yahoo accounts without issue for years, but about a month ago one of two yahoo email accounts failed. Since one of the accounts still works without issue, not clear what's going on?

Ubuntu 22.04 Thunderbird 102.11.0 (64-bit)

I think perhaps it's the email account add / configuration step for several reasons. Let's call the account that works "A" and the not-working broken account "B". Early on, I deleted the "B" account and have since been trying to get this to work again. During the "add account" step, I've let TB configure automatically, which yields the same server info as "A", so I don't think that's an issue; The settings that show up when attempting to add "B" (same as "A") are in a screenshot. After you click "Done", there's a pop up to get Yahoo's password. I enter this, then click yes to the agreement, and *immediately* get the authentication error (another screenshot). The speed of this error is what has me suspicious. It made me think some local files somehow have incorrect info. I tried clearing history ("everything") and restarting, but same story.

Unfortunately, the earlier question doesn't have an answer. Any more clues about this?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I've recently tried connecting my Yahoo account to my Thunderbird client (102.12.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10 but it refuses to connect. I add the account and use the recommended settings, I get through entering my email, password, checking I am not a bot, and autheniticating using an app but then it just reverts back to asking me to entering my email again (screen shot 1) and never connects.

I have a VPN but the issue remains when it is turned off. I have also tried logging in to my email in Firefox and this works fine so there's no issue with the credentials at all. The settings are the standard (second screen shot)

Can you advise please as this is my main email address and I'd like it working, as has done for years, in Thunderbird.

Many thanks

[EDIT] Antivirus was the cause. Had to add exceptions for https://mail.yahoo.com and https://login.yahoo.com in my antivirus settings to finally get access

I just today (6/27/2023) downloaded and Installed Thunderbird on my Mac (latest OS installed).

I was able to successfully configure my Google account email and my company's Outlook/Exchange email just fine and I'm getting messages on both.

However, I do not see ANY calendar events whatsoever...not Apple (local) or Outlook.

I seem to be able to create an event on the calendar that's showing, but I'm getting nothing from Apple or Outlook.

I'm not so worried about local or Apple events, but I DO want to see my company's events that are on the Outlook Catalog.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

The website I'm using most is 9gag.com

I can get the website to load again by choosing exit in Firefox to clear out all my data, then re-opening Firefox and logging in from scratch.

It will just hang on load screen, usually what you see before data begins to load.

I can reproduce it by removing Firefox from recents, then launching it again and re-opening the existing tab, or even a new one.
