My Firefox won't launch and I've tried everything on the trouble shooting page so far. It only opens when I click a new profile in Profile Manager. Help!

I used Firefox this morning and it worked perfectly fine. When I tried to open Firefox this afternoon, nothing happened. I tried clicking on the icon, uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing seemed to make Firefox launch. I also restarted my computer multiple times. Finally I reset Firefox. The only way I've figured out to make it launch now is by creating a new profile and using that one. Thing is none of my bookmarks have been saved on the new profile. I've tried copying all of the files from the old profile to the new profile but the problem seems to reoccur when I do that. Help?

Don't copy over your old profile settings to the new one. There's something wrong with that profile that's preventing Firefox from opening. That's the reason the problem occurs after a new profile.

Have you tried launching Firefox in Safe Mode? To do this, simply go to the Run command (Start > Run or WINDOWS key + R) then type firefox -safe-mode Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

When you are in Safe Mode, the following occurs:

  • All extensions are disabled.
  • The default theme is used, without a persona.
  • The default toolbar layout is used.
  • Hardware acceleration is disabled.

If it does open, then it's probably one of your extensions that is causing the problem. You can see which one it is by enabling them one by one then restarting to see which one it is
