tried opening Mozilla Firefox but it doesn't pop up on my screen, the symbol doesn't appear in my start bar, and task manager doesn't pick up any sign of it. but when I tried to uninstall it, a pop up says its running.

Sometimes the program shuts down, but not all the way. A background . is still running. To find if it is, open Task Manager. You may look but not . find Firefox listed here. Next select Processes. Here you will find Firefox. . Right click on it and then select End Process. You should be all set. . . . HOWEVER . . . If this keeps happening, let us know.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
