Hi oranji, Mozilla has received a lot of feedback and is addressing various problems with High DPI support, but the general problem of zoom being one or two levels too high on all pages is, as far as I know, being left to extensions to solve. I think you made multiple posts in this thread and I probably haven't seen all of them, but did you try this combination:

• Have Firefox use your Windows zoom level automatically (leave the setting in about:config at its default value of -1)
• Use either of the following content zoom extensions to reduce the zoom level for web pages globally by the desired amount (e.g., set it to 80% or 90%):
  • Default FullZoom Level
  • NoSquint

Jscher, I did dicker with the config settings, but the results were not satisfactory. I didn't install any extensions, and don't feel I should have to customize a browser to that level, especially when it has been working fine for 10 years (and FF already takes forever and a half to load). My display settings - 1024x768, 120 dpi - are not that exotic.

Since when was Mozilla a slave to anything Microsoft?? And one has to wonder why that screws up the FF settings when it doesn't create the same problem in MS's own browser, IE. Or ANY other browser, for that matter.

Hi oranji, you can zoom out manually then. As you know, Firefox remembers your preferred zoom level on a site-by-site basis.

I don't think Microsoft is driving this; Apple's Retina display is the pioneer of High DPI. But both IE11 and Chrome 30 are expected to move in the same direction as Firefox 22. Maybe they will make it easier to tweak the settings than Firefox does?

As for long loading times, you could start a new thread on that.
