- Type about:config in the address bar and press ENTER.
- When the message This might void your warranty! appears, click on I'll be careful, I promise.
- Type plugins.load_appdir_plugins in the search bar at the top. Double click the search result to change its value from false to true.
- Go to File menu and click on Exit. Wait for 2-3 minutes then reopen Firefox.
- Check again if your plugins are up to date and...voilà!

You can download the new Windows Media Player plugin via this page;
I downloaded the plug in from the link of the website mentioned.But the position as shown on the plugins is still the same it says it is venerable.I again tried to check by clicking the link to see if the plug in is up to date but without any success. The plug- in i.e. windows media player dynamic linked library 3.0.2.628. continues to be shown as venerable.

Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link LibraryNpdsplay dll
This shows as vulnerable. I went into about:configure and changed value to true.
Nothing changed. It still says Update Now
WIN XP if it matters
Maybe your plugin really isn't up to date...have you tried downloading the new one from the link in the first reply?

Butterfly:
I downloaded plugin but in message box in Add/Remove Programs it said it belonged to network source that was not available.
I have no idea what that means. I'm not going to worry about it as it seems more of an annoyance rather than anything which affects Media Player which functions OK.
Thanks anyway.
