When I use a search engine and get results, I am clicking one of the links in the results page, the results page redirects somewhere else. How do I fix that?

I currently use Mozilla Firefox as my default browser. On the tool bar, I also have the search dialogue box that includes Yahoo, Google, Bing, etc. When I put a topic in the dialogue box and hit search, a new page appears with search results. However, when I click on one of the hyperlinks to display the information, I get redirected to a page that has no relationship to what I was searching. How do I get the search results to direct me to the page I am looking for? As an example, I searched for Mayor Menino and the results page appeared. The first hyperlink stated that I would be redirected to the Boston Globe. However, when I clicked on that first link, the result went to blekko.com.

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

You can try to delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.
