When saving images/files by doing "right click" "save image as" Firefox crashes immediately. The same occurs when clicking "Attach a file" for any webmail (gmail, etc.). This occurs 2-3 times before (on my 3rd restart of firefox, usually) I can finally either save or attach something.

Reinstalled and updated firefox after this kept occuring (once I updated ver 19.0 I think, but I have no idea how to "downgrade" to 18.0 or anything like that), currently at ver 20.0, beta.

Using a MacBook Pro.

(Also, not so much to do with this, but I never used to get popups, at all, when going to sites - and now I also have popups occurring from time to time.)

please try this troubleshooting

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

I tried this in safe mode and it still crashes. When I right click an image and save it to my desktop, it crashes, even in Safe Mode. It's very annoying.

The only solution I can give people for now, is you can click and drag the image you wish to save to your desktop and it will save that way.

Note: I use Windows 7, 64bit, Firefox 23.0.1.
