Firefox 14.0.1 after extension update ShowFirstRunPage is not reset
Immediately after an extension update have been done Firefox can't stop to open new tabs with release notes each time when starting browser. These extensions new tabs must be opened only once.

If you do not keep changes after a restart then see:
I can save changes - the problem is that last session restore doesn't work correctly and I need to fix it by manually edit and save changes in about:config when updates are released and applied. After FF restart all is OK. My PC is clean - HDD is formated with new and fresh WinXP SP3 installation - FF14 is also clean with default profile. BTW unfortunately browser performance is still bad with and without Hardware acceleration.
Which prefs do you need to change on the about:config page?
noscript.firstRunRedirection extensions.firebug.showFirstRunPage ... etc

Does Firefox save the first run prefs to the prefs.js file?
If that is the case then make a backup copy of the prefs.js file, so you can check is the file is still the same the next time that you start Firefox
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
