I have lost my passwords several times. I have reloaded FF and now it does not ask to save PW when I first open a site. Is there a way to get real help with FF or is it time to look for another browser?

Looks like this was a known problem way back in FF 3. http://kb.mozillazine.org/User_name_and_password_not_remembered

I have again deleted FF and reloaded it. What I had missed in the past was I had to select for FF to delete ALL BOOKMARKS and SAVED PASSWORDS so the problem was being carried forward each time.

I I had save all my bookmarks to a Word file and can not import then from that file so i am now loading each one again by hand.

If there is a way to save Bookmarks please advise for future use.

So far those BM that i have reloaded seam to work.

By the way the PW for FF is saved but that one does not automatically apply when I open this page. It is there when I go to log in so it is a two step function

I spoke too soon. The 2 sites I use most and have save PW for will not work. Back to square ONE. Each worked when I first set them up but once I close FF they will not work after that

The Firefox password manager doesn't work on all websites.

Possible causes are the use of autocomplete=off or the way the password form is created via JavaScript.

For the first you can use the bookmarklet.

For the latter you can use this extension to save the data manually, but this doesn't mean that the saved password can or will be filled in the login form.

All the PW I am having trouble with are saved in the PW Manager and all have worked in the past.

It is interesting you mention Java. Java has caused problems with other things relating to signing into Charles Schwab site in the past.

A question. There are 2 users on this computer and when I deleted FF and reloaded it I was asked if I wanted to delete all Bookmarks and Cookies. I did but the Bookmarks were not removed on my wife's side. Can this be contributing?

I would ask you to attempt to sign into these 2 sites.

http://www.airforums.com/

http://www.geocaching.com/

and see if you can save PW for them and report back.

Is it a problem on my computer or a site problem in general

ie www.geocaching.com uses autocomplete=off so you need to use the bookmarklet.
I do get the offer from Firefox to save the name and password for www.geocaching.com

The www.airforums.com site uses a normal form and doesn't require that extra step of using the bookmarklet.

So it should be working with both sites.

Did you install any extensions in the current profile?

What is and where is the bookmarklet?

Both sites are currently saved in my PW manager but neither one works.

Air forum will fill in the UN & PW as soon as I type the first letter of the UN but in doig so it adds the letter I typed to the end of the UN so I have to go up and delete that letter than it will sign me in.

Geocaching has the UN & PW saved in password manage but does not work and does not fill in as I type the UN & PW

Did the reset in trouble shooting and had no effect on the 2 sites in question but now I am signed into this page when I click the link in your e mails.

I got AirForums. I found an old saved bookmark file and imported it. AirForums works now from that file.
