The main browser windows title bar becomes unresponsive to the mouses left click after switching tabs. Can not drag browser Can not double click to min or max Can not click on close, min, max buttons.

This problem can be resolved(until the next time you switch tabs) by right clicking on title bar or by foregrounding any other application and then returning to firefox.

can you launch firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode once and see if the problem is ocurring there too - just close all firefox windows & hold the shift-key while you open up the browser again...

It is actually worse in safe mode. Now no left click works once firefox has focus. You can close/min/max/resize the window if it does not have focus, but as soon as it has focus, nothing. Hence, you can not drag using left click as that inherently gives it focus.

The firefox drop down menu at upper left hand side of title bar does work, this feature was not present as such in non safe mode.

This does make it apparent to me that the problem is related to the entire border as it disables resizing from any point. True in non safe mode too.

can you try disabling all plugins in the addons manager too & see if that changes anything - in case the problem goes away, reenable them one by one again to find out what might be causing it.

All plugins disabled, closed and reopened firefox, problem persists.

then another thing to try would be deleteing/renaming the localstore.rdf file in your profile folder while firefox is closed.

also make sure that firefox & the plugin container isn't blocked/sandboxed etc. by your security software or firewall.

After renaming localstore.rdf, firefox will only launch in safe mode, localstore was recreated but subsequent launches were still in safe mode, problem persisted. Restored old version of localstore, launches normally, but problem persists of course.

Just using windows firewall and security essentials, disabled firewall completely, problem persisted, I don't believe security essentials does anything to running programs.

hmm, this is really strange. the only thing i can still think of is to create a fresh profile. in case that works you then canrestore some of your data from the old (defective?) profile.

otherwise i'm out of ideas - maybe someone else can still step in with some suggestions...

Thanks for trying, I did a fresh install of windows 7 and firefox and that did resolve the issue.
