What it the purpose of the blue "thermometer" symbol I keep seeing in Firefox on mac? Where is the setting for this? How can I find out how to get rid of it?
This annoying symbol keeps appearing. I would like to understand it's purpose and how to use or eliminate it. Several times I could eliminate is by dragging it slightly to the left but that isn't working today.

That looks like an icon that you get if you drag a tab to move it to a new position. That icon should disappear once the dragging has ended, but apparently that didn't happen if it stays visible.

Can you attach a screenshot?
Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I found out that if I drag the tab to the right of the icon (as opposed to the icon itself) to the left, that the icon disappears. I'm glad to have this minor visual annoyance disappear, and I'd love to know if this "feature" is something that can be disabled. Thanks for your help!
