My forward and back arrows are grayed out. Running Firefox 8 under Ubuntu 11.10. Worked up until a few days ago.
Where do I look to fix this issue? It's a pain to have to re-open some websites when a hitting the back arrow would do. Thanks!

There is something going on with your original profile....if you want to just go with a new profile and transfer over some data that works. Otherwise, we can take a look at the contents of about:support and make sure nothing is wrong with the settings

Are you in private browsing mode?
What are your history settings?
Do the sites you visit appear in history?
Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
Not in private browsing mode.
History settings set to 'Remember history'
Sites I visit do NOT appear in history. Odd.
Issue still exists in Safe Mode.
It works with a new profile. So, my default profile is corrupt, correct?

Since my 'Default' profile was pretty plain. Can I delete 'Default' and rename my current 'working' profile back to 'Default'?
Hmmm....that might cause some issues. You can try it, but the best bet is to just set the 'new' profile as the default - the name doesn't really matter
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
