Yesterday, all of a sudden, the "Bing page" takes over Firefox. No icons; no bookmarks. Even the URL site wasn't visible until I dragged it out of the top. Now it's impossible to move back and forth from from my email site to my other programs like word and excel. So now I am stuck with Internet Explorer. I'd like to get back to Firefox the way it was, with the shortcuts all visible and usable along with the program icons.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F). If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear. You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
  • If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Thanks so much, cor-el. The F11 did the trick. We'd not had this kind of problem ever before, so we must have accidentally hit the wrong key. Thanks. We hate the Bing page, but maybe that just comes up automatically. Paul
