How were you trying to get the upgrade -- from the built-in updater, or from mozilla.com? You could try here:

http://www.mozilla.com/firefox

Good idea to back up your settings before doing a major upgrade. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
