Hi,

Recently my firefox has been running very slow. Its take long to browse all websites and sometimes it takes really long when the circular thing at the top left hand corner keeps spinning.

When that happens; if I click on the page the screen goes white and then says that firefox is not responding so I close it however if I just leave it at the white screen firefox comes back to normal.

Also I noticed when I am using firefox my connection has gone really slow. I have disabled most plug ins im not using and also uninstalled some programs I was not using anymore on my Dell Inspiron 530S. I also have AVG Free Edition and have done a full virus scan. I think I might have spyware or malware on my computer so today I purchased Adaware Pro and am now running a full system scan so hopefully that solves the problem as I have been told that spyware can slow down a computer.

Your help in this matter would be really appreciated.

Thank you

Yusuf

An easy try would be to clear the cache, sometimes a bad page will be loaded there and each time you go back to the page it uses the cached page. How to clear the Firefox cache Another issue is Anti-virus software doing constant sweeps of the pages you are trying to view.

Hi DPMR,

Thanks for your reply. I did everything you asked but unfortunately my firefox is still running slow. The dreaded circular ring thingy still spins for ages on certain websites, especially ebay. I had a look at my AVG Anti Virus but was not sure what to change to be honest. Its odd though as this problem only started happening recently.

I had the problem on Win 7 Pro 64x high end machine. My wife had it on Win Vista laptop. A friend had the same issue on his Win XP machine.

Tried to log on to many web sites ( a very wide variety of sites between the three of us) and on three out of five sites (average), the tab just sat there with that spinner on the tab doing pretty much nothing but trying to look pretty. If I click "stop" and "reload" enough times, then on rare occasions the website may load but usually even that did not help at all.

My only solution and it worked flawlessly on all three computers mentioned above was to reinstall FireFox 5.0 right over top of FireFox 6. I simply downloaded the FireFox version 5.0 installer and double clicked it. It ran and installed fine, zero issues and everything is working absolutely perfectly again on all three computers mentioned above. That was over a week ago and still no problems whatsoever. I was so glad to have FireFox version 5.0 go on so cleanly. At least the "rollback" was both quick and painless. Thank you FireFox for that.

Hi kdaAz,

Wow thanks for that..it solved it! Firefox 6 must just not agree with my computer or something:L Firefox 5.0 works perfectly now for me and no more problems I had before. I will be very hesitant to be upgrading from now on.

Btw does anyone know how to put tabs of websites at the top of firefox? I backed up my firefox the other day before doing a clean uninstall however now when I imported them back only my bookmarks have been saved. I had shortcuts tabs of facebook, Youtube, Sky Sports and a few others at the top of firefox just under the address bar going across the way but now I dont know how to add them back. Ant help would be appreciated.

Thanks

FireFox 5.0

edit: keep in mind that Firefox 5.0 is behind on security updates. So use at your own risk.

Hi people,

The problem has come back again. I downgraded to FF5 but it got so annoying that every time I went on firefox it wanted to upgrade to the latest version so I did that and boy was that a mistake! When Im streaming videos from sites like Youtube and other video sites the videos are like lagging and interrupted. Also Regularly when I click on something, especially my shortcut tabs I have at the top, my firefox crashes for ages and when I click on it again the screen turns white. I usually just close FF and open it up again when the circular thingy at the top left hand keeps spinning.

When I click on view the problem signature it shows up as "AppHangB1"

Is that a virus or something? I presume that's what's messing up my FF.

I even backed up my FF profile and completely uninstalled FF and all its folders and installed FF5 but unfortunately the "AppHangB1" still comes up:(

I love FF but it's unusable like this. I tested IE and Safari and they work perfectly fine so the problem is definitely with my firefox. Any help please much appreciated.

I can take a screenshot of the problem signature if that will help.
