Bookmarks sidebar shows all but bookmarks toolbar in blank

Help! I'm using FF 4.0.1 on Win 7 None of my bookmarks show in the Bookmarks toolbar but they work correctly on the sidebar. The sidebar shows 3 root folders. All the bookmarks are properly in the "bookmarks toolbar" folder. None are in the "Bookmarks menu" folder or the "Unsorted bookmarks" folder.
