Windows Vista on a PC...When I visit a web site that I want to save, I select the Bookmarks (toolbar?) icon off the (gray) command bar. Next, I select "Bookmark This Page" and I get a "Folder" choice drop down menu that lists "Toolbar, Menu Unsorted or Choose", as well as the last five folders I've used. When I wish to save the web address to a folder that I haven't used in a while, I cannot select it by following any of those choices or drop down menu's! I end up being forced to add a "New Folder" which allows me an opportunity to select the (existing) folder that I actually want to use. Over time, I end up with dozens of "New Folders" that I eventually delete as they are not being used. I doubt this process could become any less efficient and/or counter-intuitive.

If you click Choose or click the arrow at the far right of the folder field then you should see the full folder list. See Bookmarks in Firefox

@Cor-el When I select "Choose", I get three options related to the Bookmark Toolbar, Bookmark Menu and Unsorted Bookmarks. I CANNOT scroll and select any of my existing bookmark folders. I can choose to add a new folder. I thought I explained this in my original post. Thanks for trying to help!

@TXGuy...Thank you for trying to help me. I honestly don't know what's going on with my version of Firefox. I followed your directions to the letter and did not have the same results. When I selected the Bookmarks Menu or Unsorted Bookmarks and the corresponding extreme right down arrow, the result did not list my existing bookmarked folders...it was blank. Please see screenshot. As you can see, I have a sizable list of existing bookmark folders. Sure wish I could save something to them efficiently!

Good news! I have finally figured it out! You just need to go to "bookmarks menu" then click on the liitle + sign you see to the left of "bookmarks menu" This will then bring up a list of all your bookmark folders. There you have it guys - problem solved at last!
