Each time I open Thunderbird email, a page on firefox opens requesting a donation. This has been going on for weeks. I reached out to Thunderbird, and all suggestions have failed to resolve the problem. Most recently I was instructed to submit the problem here. I hope this is sufficient for requesting assistance. I would like to forward our list of communications and cannot discover a method to do so. If you send me an email address, I can give all that information. Thanks, Norma Bauer cabauer@northlink.com

Hello Norma. Thank you for your donation.

Please do Settings > General > click Config Editor (near the bottom of the list of settings). Paste in app.donation. What value do you see for app.donation.eoy.version.viewed ?

The number displayed is 5. I don't know how reading this makes the recurring request cease.

I just went to the Thunderbird source code and a 5 would be the default for app.donation.eoy.version app.donation.eoy.version.viewed is a boolean value and can validly on have a 0 or 1

We know what you tell us. I am assuming Wayne is attempting to determine if the software has actually recorded showing you the page. But first I think have a look again at the value. It may simply not be there, that to is a valid result. But 5 is not.

The donation notice is designed to appear once. But there are situations where something breaks that process. One way for it to break is if prefs file is not working correctly.

Please check [profile directory] to see if you have multiple prefs files (prefs.js, prefs-1.js, etc). If you have multiple files:

1. With Thunderbird turned off, find the preferences file with the *oldest and the one with most recent (newest) date* and put them somewhere safe. 2. Delete all prefs files from your profile folder. 3. Copy the previously saved newest prefs file to your profile folder with the name prefs.js.

The donation notice should appear once and not appear on future startups.
