How can I clear my recent bookmarks? If I try to delete any, it deletes altogether from it's bookmark folder. I understand that it was set up for convenience, but it sacrifices privacy. I don't want my private bookmarks showing up when I go to bookmarks under the 3 line menu. I have seen this question posted over and over, but none of the solutions work for me. Very upsetting. Firefox has been great EXCEPT for this one issue. It's enough to make me consider moving to another browser. I can't understand why Mozilla thinks this would be helpful. At the very least, make it optional or easy to clear.

You can easily manage bookmarks without ever opening that menu and if someone has access to your browser then recent bookmarks will be trivial to discover anyway. You can manage bookmarks from the sidebar (Ctrl+B), toolbar (Ctrl+Shift+B), dedicated toolbar button or Library (Ctrl+Shift+O).

To make bookmarks less discoverable, you can use Private Bookmarks or a separate profile/installation like Developer Edition.
