I have Thunderbird on two PCs. Thunderbird stopped working on my older PC, Lenovo Z40, Windows 10. I uninstalled Thunderbird on that PC and tried to reinstall. I have downloaded the set up file, but when I open it tells me I need a Microsoft safe app and sends me to Edge browser. I looked at help website but can't see how to overcome this step to get to what is described on the Tunderbird UTube video. I have downloaded the Thunderbird set up file using Edge, Chrome and Firefox browsers. Same problem each time. Thanks

Did you download from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/  ? Be sure you downloaded from an official location. Please post the complete message you are getting, as that may help someone here in identifying the issue. Thank you.

When I did what you said I got the same file I downloaded before. It say Thunderbird set up 115.2.2 and is 58.647KB in size. When I open that file I get the attached which sends me to the Edge browser, but I can't get the start up file to initiate.

This is a Windows setting. The screenshot mentions it needs to be changed if you want to select apps yourself. I am not well-versed in the setting and it may vary from win 10 to win 11. Microsoft would like you to get thunderbird from the Microsoft store.
