Name Thunderbird Version 115.3.1 OS Linux 4.18.0-477.27.1.el8_8.x86_64 #1 OS Theme Mc-OS-CTLina-Gnome-Dark-1.3.2 / Mc-OS-CTLina-Gnome-1.3.2 Application Binary /usr/lib64/thunderbird/thunderbird

If I create a test message to myself containing eg:

Line 1

Line 2

Line 3

(See uploaded image)

And then forward that message to myself, I have the following issues:

1) The forwarded message is displayed *twice* in my Inbox. (See uploaded image)

2) If I delete the initial message, and one of the forwarded messages, then the Inbox shows one message which has the errors of 1) The message Subject is blank 2) The message date is incorrect (See uploaded image)

3) If I restart TB, then this empty message in Issue 2 above is gone.

4) If I have issue 1 above, and I restart TB, then the forwarded message is only displayed once - ie restarting TB fixes issue 1

5) BUT if I now delete the original message and have only the forwarded message in my Inbox, the contents of the forwarded message is displayed as a summary and not in full. This is not always happening and so not alway reproducible and so I have not shown an image of this.

Have you tried right clicking the folder, slecting properties and then the repair button?

Hi Matt, thanks for helping out.

Just to update, I have 2 other issues posted: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1428377 - Inbox displays incorrect number of messages

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1428374 - Thunderbird 115 takes a long time to start up

and in working thru one of these issues, it seems all my 3 issues including this one are caused by the same thing: Using Unified folders.

If I use View > Folders > All folders then this issue goes away.

If I right click on the Inbox in Unfied folders > Properties, then there does not seem to be a Repair button.

I have 4 email accounts.

In All folders view, and I did click Repair folders on each Inbox of each account.

I also have Unified folders view enabled, and after doing a Repair on each Inbox in All folders view, I did another forwarding of a message.

The Unified folder Inbox still shows two forwarded messages, same (including screenshots) as in my original post in this issue.

In All folders view, the individual Inbox of the account with the forwarded message shows only one forwarded message, as is desired/expected.

So it seems this issue is due to using Unified folders.

Any help in trying to resolve why using Unified folders is causing this problem, would be much appreciated.

For unified folders, this is what I know. I suggest you do that and offer appropriate diagnostics as well as use the tool to "FIX" the issue. I am not out of ideas, but getting information to developers is fairly high on my priority list.

Hi Matt, Thanks again and sorry for my late reply, but I wanted to take some time to try and fix this.

In terms of debugging unified folders, I did do the manual version (not the plugin), as per: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unified_Folders_not_working

This did not help.

So I did the following: - Backed up my profile - Uninstalled TB and did a fresh install of TB 115.4.1 - Created new profile - Added from scratch my email accounts using Add Email Account - Copied my Local Folders over from old profile - Exported calendar and address books from old profile to new one

In the hope that a fresh install would help.

But unfortunately this issue is still occuring :(

And now I also see a message that is blank and has a date with year 1969...

I would install

Unified Folders Debugging 115.3

but I noticed it gives a warning before install that says it will have access to my whole computer, and my company's security policy will not allow installing based on this warning.

Well still having this issue, and just considering trying to revert to an older version of TB or using another email client at this stage.

Also still having other 115 issues.

I told you what to do, you chose to do something else.
