Whoever decided to add this needs to be fired, HOLY ****... I was about to buy a new mouse as the last one I had started failing by opening multiple new windows when i clicked the middle mouse button... so then i see the middle mouse button going BACK randomly, I assume my mouse is failing.

Luckily I google this problem and see that it's some kind of secret feature????? And I can confirm that other browsers do not do this... so it's FIREFOX who added this idiotic feature and didn't let anyone know?????

GET IT THE **** OUT OF THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

That has nothing to do with Firefox that is with issue with your Mouse driver software and how the user setup the mouse driver system. Firefox uses the setup the Mouse driver gives it.

no... nothing in my mouse's software even allows for such a feature... nothing in my mouse's software has CHANGED this problem ONLY happens in firefox and I wouldn't have even realized that was happening if I didn't google it... so YES it's the browser.

There is a hidden preference but its default value is 2 which means that backspace should do nothing out of the ordinary. You can check by entering about:config in the address bar. browser.backspace_action

It sounds like your middle mouse button has a tilt feature, you should be able to remap it or disable it in the software/driver of your mouse. On the Firefox side, you can try going to about:config and changing mousebutton.4th.enabled and mousebutton.5th.enabled to false.

Going back in the history can happen if you hold down the Alt key and rotate to mouse wheel. You can possibly set mousewheel.with_*.action prefs to 1 or to 0 on the about:config page.
