About 6 months ago I moved from a Dell to a MacBook. I have given up Google and am now using Firefox rather than Safari. But sometimes I'm forced to use Safari because the page I'm looking at doesn't lay out properly. There's text on top of text, etc. But things lay out fine on Safari. I don't want to give up Firefox but I need to be able to read the page. Is there a fix for this?

If you can share screenshots, either by attaching files to a reply or by sharing links to an image hosting site, that would be helpful. Please cut out or blur any sensitive information in the image files before sharing. (In case it's useful: How do I create a screenshot of my problem?)

Does the layout improve if you zoom out (hold down the Command key and tap the - key once or twice, or use the zoom controls on the menu)?

Some instances of weirdly placed text are caused by blocking iconic web fonts. You might notice that on some Google sites (example thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1397374).

Issues with a weird font can caused by a problem with a specific font and you need to identify this font and fix this. You may find that it can be resolved by finding and removing duplicate fonts installed in the local ~/Library/Fonts folder, that are conflicting with standard system fonts.

You can check in Font Book for font issues like corrupted and duplicate fonts. Note that you shouldn't disable "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above" as this will cause issues with iconic fonts used by webpages to display small icons (you may see text labels instead of icons).

I appreciate your comments. I've attached two pictures but, in the same way a car never makes a sound when you take it to a mechanic the pictures I've attached are minimal examples if what sometimes is a much more significant problem.

As you can see in the photos, text is on top of other texts. Though this only happened a little in my examples, sometimes it's such a mess it's impossible to read and I have to copy and paste the web address into Safari and use it for a proper layout.

Any suggestions are appreciated. I don't want to have to ditch Mozilla and switch to Safari.

Also, zooming out does not solve the problem.

Any chance that you set a "Minimum font size" on the preferences page? That feature can cause overflow of text out of the intended position if the size is 10 or higher (depending on the layout). Another layout breaker is "text only" zoom.
