Unable to restore from Carbonite backup

more options

I really need help... all my work is delayed until I can get this fixed.... I tried restoring just 'Profiles' to TB from Carbonite. Didn't work. So on another computer I did a full restore. I still don't have the TB files in and haven't been able to get them in despite several tries based off Carbonite's advice and google searches.

p.s. I am on a PC and went here: C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\

When you get to Profiles, there is one line of code. Do I put the files there, or click into Profiles and put files there? I'm not sure how I would do that 2nd option.

For the first option, should I delete that one line first? I think the new information is a different one line code.

If that makes sense.

Can you restore the entire Thunderbird folder without causing other problems? Thunderbird doesn't notice things in the Profiles folder unless they are listed in the index files:

My problem is I have no idea how to do what you wrote. I really need to find someone I can pay to help me with this but no one knows TB. I've also tried to follow this page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_what-is-a-profile

and still stuck. How can I get help? All my most important info that I need immediately is not available to me. At my wit's end.

I don't use Carbonite and I don't know how your backup is organized. So this is hypothetical.

If you check your backup, does it have a Thunderbird folder containing files and folders similar to what I showed in my screenshot?

Hopefully so. Then:

I assume you can restore not just a single file, but a whole folder, so you could select all of the files and folders in the Thunderbird folder in your backup and then restore to this location:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

replacing what you have there now. (It should be okay to replace if it's just default stuff created by the new install that you don't need.)

Can Carbonite help if it's not obvious how to do the restore?
