Unable to get email from gmail using thunderbird
Unable to get email from gmail using thunderbird on a PC It worked fine until recently. I had it set up to download Pop3 I am using three different Gmail accounts, none work Had Google set up to allow less secure apps. Now the option is no longer available I can still get email on the Google website from a pc Microsoft Mail still works. I would use Mail, but the user interface is not what I like. Bluemail on my android phone and tablet work fine. Server login is set to OAuth2. When I first open Thunderbird a window comes up for each gmail account asking me to sign in with google account. It gets stuck in a loop where it keeps asking for the email or phone. None seem to work. It never gets to a dialog box that asks for the account password. I have spent a lot of time and made no progress. Any help will be appreciated.

I feel so stupid. I had to allow cookies in Thunderbird. I had no idea that an email app would even require cookies.
Problem is solved for now.

Try using your operating system in safe mode with networking. My guess is something is interfering with the web pages updating. Given you appear to be using windows 10. The most obvious thing would be an anti virus product. But safe mode should provide some insight.
Thanks Matt I opened windows in safe mode with networking. Same issue. I found no additional information.
Could the issue be that login in now OAuth2 instead of Normal Password. I believe it was always set to Normal and the default was changed in one of the updates. It was working well for so long I lost track of the settings. If I change it back to Normal Password it asks for the password but it rejects it. Is there something that I need to set up on the Gmail side? I noticed there was something about app specific passwords but I don't remember the particulars and don't know if it applies in my case.
Also all my android devices work fine. The TB contacting Gmail as a pop server. Is this a problem?
By the way Matt, thanks for the help.
