If you have kept TB open and not done much since, try [ctrl]z to undo. If you did some things since, you may need to undo each of those one at a time to get back far enough to undo 'mark as read'.
Sadly for me this did nothing. I vaguely recall the system (program?) asking me some question about I think forwarding messages or something and right after that all existing unread turned to read. The new ones are fine and come in as unread but I would really like to get back in o the considerable number of unread messages
