Why isn't there a way to set the number of opened tabs after which the side scrolling option kicks in?
The side scrolling tabs feature is one of the best things about FF but why is this lacking? I should be able to determine myself after what number of tabs I want the option to open.

You can't set how many tabs can be opened before the scroll buttons appear, but you can set the minimum tab width via browser.tabs.tabMinWidth on the about:config page. Note that browser.tabs.tabMinWidth can't go lower than 50.
