im trying to understand why the holy heck firefox supposedly removed the ability to press backspace to go back on a webpage. Im googling info and i guess you press now alt and left arrow. Jesus christ, why remove a single press button for a simple function to TWO!!!! buttons?!?!? I loved the backspace feature and its been SUPER frustrating this year and i finally decided to ask about it or ask how to fix this. I want my dang backspace button back. I dont understand the reason to remove either. Now it just does NOTHING.Instead of being useful** God firefox stop pissin me off. Also i shouldnt have to accept everything to install any extra extensions. I find it odd they give a warning but to get extension you have to give it access to everything half the time. Theres absolutely ZERO reason for this. Using firefox for almost a decade because Explorer and edge were slow and dumb to me eventually, and i switched to firefox, now im reconsidering switching again after a decade.

This backspace feature has been disabled a few versions ago, but you can still enable it via the about:config page.

You can set browser.backspace_action = 0 on the about:config page to re-enable this feature.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".

See Changed in the Firefox 87 release notes.

To prevent user data loss when filling out forms, we’ve disabled the Backspace key as a navigation shortcut for the back navigation button. To re-enable the Backspace keyboard shortcut, you can change the about:config preference browser.backspace_action to 0.

im glad theres a way but i dont want to enable or allow the "risk" stuff. Absolutely zero resason to try and find a back door like this to do a fix. It should just be within the program. So if i have to accept this risk pop up id rather pass. I try to pass on most extensions. Even though id like them. Firefox is just seeming more and more sketchy and unfavorable as time goes on. But thanks for the answer

This is only one change to re-enable a feature that has been disabled, so no need to worry.
