Can't search
I just upgraded to Firefox 89, and now I can't type in the search box. It goes straight to the top (URL bar?). I've tried refresh, and closing modem, and restarting, and restarting while holding down the shift key. Nothing helps. I'm computer illiterate, so I'll need explicit details about how to correct the issue. Thanks for any help. I wish Firefox had a phone number to call. I'm on a Macbook Pro, if that matters.

Hi magruder, there is a preference for this but it does take a bit of work to find it because of the unusual name:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste handoff and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar preference to switch the value from true to false
Success?

You're a genius!! How do people learn these things unless they majored in IT? Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I studied economics, but my hobby is making software bend to my will. ;-)
