[Linux] Is it possible to run Thunderbird as a service and make it auto-start on each login?

more options

I'd like to know if there is any way to run Thunderbird as a service in order to receive a notification each time I get a new email, so I don't have to open Thunderbird each time to check if I have got new email messages.

I'd also like to make it auto-start on each login. So I won't have to start the service manually.

I have Kubuntu 20.04.

Thank you very much!

Hello there Adrian2895

We have read your message. We try to help you.

Hi there. in principle you can start any program if you use a desktop pc, yes.

The only idea is that it can cause some problems and bring along some errors. Your computer becomes slower, for example, especially with older computers, in some areas you are asked to uncheck or remove the programs that it is during automatic startup.

Yes it is possible I will let you read an article with this one. https://www.howtogeek.com/228467/how-to-make-a-program-run-at-startup-on-any-computer/ (scanned)

The other question.. Yes you can send messages to Thunderbird so many Time as you like. Greetings Firefox Volunteer.

There isn't. Thunderbird needs to be running in order to receive messages.

I'd also like to make it auto-start on each login.

There is nothing which prevents you from doing that.

Hello there 2895 Adrian.

Oké,yes it s more like you need a add on. We have a mail alert add on.

We have a list of them. The use of it is more for older versions of Thunderbird and some do not.

Check the list some time. New ones arrive.

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/alertswitch/?src=search This one is for the use of Thunderbird 70.0.

If you rollback the version you can use it. Do you know how to?

Thanks, but these plugins only work when Thunderbird is running, right?

What about keeping Thunderbird running in system tray when I close it? Is this possible?

Hello Adrian 2895.

I have looked for you it is indeed that other mail providers do have this function pegasus mail mac tries to participate in this too, you can install it to see if that is the case, but I am not saying you should use it.

some people will like to see it that way, but some aren't a fan of it either.

For Linux users try k-Docker. https://github.com/user-none/KDocker
