HOW TO STOP PROGRAMS FROM OPENING A SECOND WINDOW IN MOZILLA FIREFOX
I searched a location for a vacation and next time I opened Firefox a second version of Firefox (New Window) was running with ads for hotels. Don't confuse this with a second tab, I am talking about another version of Firefox. How does an advertiser get around the security settings and make this possible. It's almost like an Popup for the old days but that is not allowed.in my security setting

You may have malware. Sometimes a problem (like pop-ups) with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller (for more info, see this alternate TDSSKiller download page)
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Also, Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad blocker.
Is it possible that when you last closed Firefox this window was unnoticed open hidden behind your main browsing window and that it got restored automatically on the next start via Session Restore ?
