I'm trying to help a 90 year old lady get her Thunderbird printing emails properly again. Weeks ago it suddenly started printing a one page email with normal margins using 6 pages with 1 narrow column going down the middle of the page. The scaling is set to normal. Paper is letter. She doesn't know how to change any settings and probably didn't.

Someone set this up for her years ago and suddenly it got flaky. She runs Windows 10 with Comcast email, an HP Officejet 4650 (emails print normally directly from Xfinity). Her Thunderbird updates automatically and she is on the current version.

She has set up multiple folders in Thunderbird and has saved her emails over several years. I don't know if I can reinstall Thunderbird for her and not lose all of the folders she has in place?

I searched for solutions in the forum, but was unable to find the answer. Some responses referred to resetting preferences in the config editor. I went there and looked and there are lots of lines for her HP as well as another printer she may have had previously, but the HP is not new and the problem started long after the HP was the default printer. I didn't know what to reset so I left it alone for now.

I'm hoping someone is familiar with this specific issue and can help me help her. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

First thing to try is a reset: Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor, right-click print_printer, Reset, restart TB, check the File/Print Preview to see if it makes any difference.

Printers sometimes have to be reinstalled after a Windows semi-annual update, such as 1903 to 1909.

Thanks! This worked after I rebooted, reinstalled the printer.
