Thunderbird 68.4.1 crashes every single time I close it. That was after I installed it fresh, with the update process failing every time.
Just that.

Just a little bit of extra joy... just now, closing Thunderbird 68.4.1 again, waiting for the inevitable crash, this time, THE CRASH REPORTER CRASHED.
Wonderful.
I just downloaded the beta version linked above and will see if that pukes.
Alright.
64.0b4 manages to close without crashing.
Right... so, after starting it and seeing an update shown as available in Thunderbird, I then executed an update within Thunderbird to update to 68.0b1, and... crashes on close.
next to test is the midpoint https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/66.0b3/win32/en-US/
Yeah, I don't think so.
v65.0b1 crashes on close.

Nice work. The regression probably should be in the 65.0a1 range, so we jump to nightly builds and do the divide by half game.
65.0a1 starts https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/2018/10/2018-10-26-11-18-22-comm-central/ 65.0a1 ends https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/2018/11/2018-11-21-10-00-42-comm-central/ (actually, a whole bunch of dates are missing at end end of 52 but this is the last available)
So please start at the mid point https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/2018/11/2018-11-13-10-00-35-comm-central/
Three things here, 1. Your issue might be better diagnosed using safe mode.
- Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
- Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
- If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.
2. I might have got what I asked for, but I was hoping to see
Security Software Type Name Antivirus ESET Security Antispyware
3. Do you have additional crash report id's? perhaps they are not all the same issue.
Safe mode was previously tested and shown to not have an effect https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1277551#answer-1281883 You probably didn't see that posting because it is in "Previous" page.

No I did not see it.
I downloaded and installed 73.0b1, and it does not have this problem.
